I'm just starting to use PowerHome and I'm trying to program in the IR codes for my Cox cable Motorola DVR. I'm using a USB-UIRT. I've been able to capture the code for every single button except the "power" button. It doesn't seem to get an immediate flash on the USB-UIRT, although the DVR box is getting a signal to turn on and off. Then the USB-UIRT does briefly flash after a few seconds and stop. The program just keeps timing out. Anybody else have a problem like this? It's driving me nuts that just the one button won't program. Anybody know how to manually put in the hex code if I could find it? The code numbers that show up in the programming line under "incoming code" and "outgoing code" don't look like hex code to me.

I have a Directv box and have had problems with the ON/OFF also. I found if you put the remote about 1 to 2 inches from the USB-UIRT it works better. You have to position it so the USB-IURT flashes and don’t let it repeat. Don’t know if this is the same problem but good luck.

Thanks, tried it but still can't get it to accept the signal.

It also needs to be aimed at the correct spot. Can you learn it with the helper app?

I'll give it a few more tries changing the angle and distance and see what that does. I've tried about a dozen times but you never know, I guess sometimes it's got to be just right. But what's this about a "helper app"? I'm still pretty new to Powerhouse and still figuring it out.

I believe the helper app (lrnhelper.exe) came with the drivers.

I can't find lrnhelper.exe in with my drivers. You have a download address by any chance?

The app you’re looking for is Irnhelper which is located in the Lrnhelper folder that came with the drivers. At least that's the way it is on my system.

Well now I know your problem with finding it. I’m working on it.

Still no luck. Helper app gets a signal but I can't figure out how to import it into Power-home.

That means that the USB-UIRT is functional and the problem is in PH.
I think you could copy the code and paste it into PH if it's Pronto hex.

I wonder where the problem lays as the Helper works and PH doesn’t. I’ve had problems with DirecTV and PH and usually it’s associated with the signal strength at the time I aim it. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 time before it works correctly. The other half of the equation is the transmitter and the receiver one uses. In my case I’m using X10 Pyramids which most of the time work but which have their own quirks. Just thinking out loud…

I guess it's possible that it still won't work if he pastes the Pronto hex into PH.
From the helper app, if you transmit that code, does it control the device?

Going back to the beginning of this post I take it the only problem is with the ON/OFF. For now I leave my Sat Receiver on all the time and use PH just to change the channels. Next week I’ll be testing new wireless IRs and see if that works. At this point I don’t know why the OFF/ON button is so difficult to program.

It is just the power button, all others work fine. I tried it about 25 times at different angles and distances, no luck. It is some sort of problem with PH because I tested it on a trial of IRcommander2 and it worked. The line of code for the signal in PH doesn’t seem to be hex; I’m not sure what it is. I’m wondering if PH has an option to paste hex somewhere I’m missing? Thanks for the help feedback. Any other ideas anyone?

The code for all of my buttons are definitely not hex. The ON code doesn’t look much different than the other buttons. This is the code for my OFF/ON:
<uirtraw>F40R0249742F2E2F17181718172F17181718172F172F1 7<repeat>3
And for my 3 button which works:
<uirtraw>F40R0249732F2E2F17181718171817182E2F17182E2F1 7<repeat>3
HEX does not have an R but could be a delimiter for the real hex.

You can choose the format that PH learns in, either Pronto hex or raw. I believe it's under Setup.

It’s actually in Controllers but what is the difference between them? Mine is UIRT Raw. When should UIRT Raw, Pronto or UIRT Struct be specified?
