The entire macro works perfectly now! And for what it's worth, there is no longer a syntax error in the formula.

I am having a lot of trouble resetting the icon switches. I think they have gotten corrupted with X10 addresses somehow and they are not clearing using the method recommended in the Smarthome manual.

<<One way to be sure the factory reset actually worked is to try controlling the device you just factory reset with a Group command sequence where the link information is needed>>

I am not following . . . what do you mean by a Group Command sequence? The individual switches I am having trouble resetting do not belong to any "groups." They are stand-alone switches linked only to the PLM as a responder (i.e., no controllers listed for these switches).

Good going guys. OK lee why in the flag I raised with the Direct command did we get an Ack with a oo for cmd2? Or did I interpret the 2 liner wrong.

Before doing the factory reset, press the On paddle of one of the ICON switches and confirm you see a Group Broadcast followed by a Group Cleanup Direct in the Event Log, from the ICON switch to the PLM. After a factory reset you should not see the two commands. Pressing the paddle (On or Off) causes the switch to send a Group command sequence to any responder device that has been linked to the ICON switch. If a factory reset has been successful, the link database will be zeroed and no Group commands will be issued with a paddle press.

Pete, although unusual, issuing an On command with a Bright level of 0x00 must be a valid combination because the device ACKed it and reacted to what the command said, set the Bright level to 0x00 which is the equivalent of OFF.

Handman, the problem with the formula error is that there are some combinations that will give the formula error message when there are no input fields to set. I ignored the error message thinking it was one of the other "normal" error messages which I think Dave is fixing in the next release.

Now that the macro is working, you are still fighting the pantry light turning on when not explicitly commanded, which is why you are trying the factory reset.

I hate to say this but there may be a different factory reset procedure between the ICON switches. Here goes my memory again. I'll look through the paper quick start guides I have filed from when I originally purchased my ICONs what seems to be decades ago (joke). May be a different device type I am thinking about, or maybe my old memory is just failing again.

EDIT: from the paper quick start guide received with the various switches

The ICON On/Off switch factory reset is….

Press and hold PADDLE Top for 10 seconds – then release
Tap the Set Button all the way in – then release
Push the Set Button all the way in and hold for 10 seconds – then release

The ICON Dimmer switch factory reset is….

Pull the Set Button all the way out and wait 10 seconds
Push the Set Button all the way in and hold for 3 seconds – then release
After 3 seconds the light will turn on fully

Obviously you guys don’t watch 24.      I’m interpreting your explanation as the light was essentially dimmed to zero equivalent to bright of zero which is equivalent to off. No wonder Dave flags this as a formula error. I love this stuff. This is more fun than SNA or PU 2.1 and LU 6.2

Praise be! That rocks. Imagine a world with Insteon . . . and it works!

The mind may be old, but definitely not failing. THAT factory reset did work. No group broadcast, just like you said. I cannot believe it. Links rebuilt and it's all working. Lee, Pete, thank you so much.

I do believe I'll enjoy a frosty adult beverage. Woohoo!

Ok, hard to wade through everything here, but I believe the gist of the original "PLM DEVICE FAILED" error reason is a bug from manual change, and Dave is working on it?

The symptom is the controller PLM Device entry is red shaded because a Status command is being issued against the PLM when it is a responder to a controller that issues a manual bright/dim operation. That Status command will always fail and eventually leads to red shading. The red shading has no affect on the proper operation of Powerhome and Dave said he is targeting a fix in the next release.

That's what I thought I read, and knew it wasn't causing problems. I just stopped clearing it on mine

So unfortunately I have been really busy getting ready for another trip
and haven't had much time, but I do have a new build for you. This is just
a new build of v0.2 with a new provisioning profile and a new lockout
date.

v0.2.1.zip">http://www.invisionsta.com/downloads/iHome
v0.2.1.zip

These users are on the beta: raven77m, GSOUZA, nadler, ifiwantedto,
jbbtex, Veropierre, sarcophage, shoop, rums.

There is a big change in the works, but I wanted to get a working copy
out to you guys. Version 0.3 will have the ability to set formulas for on,
off, dim, and status commands. Oh and yes dimming is in v0.3.

Sorry for the recent delays. This time of year is always very crazy at work.
Things will slow down in a few weeks and development will pick back up
again.
