aaand here I am.
Not really sure I downloaded the right drivers for the CM11A. Found a package at smarthome that was supposed to contain the CM11a driver, however installing it, it wasn't listed. The modem seems to already have the latest driver, I was going to change the modem, but I can only find external ones here in my collection and my only serial port is used by the x10 controller. I then looked for a serial port card I thought I have, but it is now where to be found unless it is in one of the old systems here... I'll have to check tomorrow (getting late here).
Either way, in the end... no new improvements still doesn't work.

Ive been thinking about this and the Win 7 has me wondering. Did you install PowerHome into c:\powerhome or did you install into the default of c:\program files\powerhome? On Vista/Win 7, PowerHome is best installed into c:\powerhome.
Let me know and we can proceed from there.
Dave.

Dave, I believe Brian is on XP Pro but I have a question. Why is PH better installed in C:\powerhome on Win7 and Vista? Is it because of the administrator requirement? I am running it on both with the default.

Pete,
Mainly from personal experience and working with so many users who've had problems with PH on Vista/Win 7 installed in the default location. Once we installed in c:\powerhome, I'd say 98% of people having problems went away. Of course, for some people (including myself..sometimes), it works just fine in the default location...but it seems dependent upon so many other variables. One of them has to do with the apparent virtualization of the database directory. When it does install properly in c:\program files\powerhome (and works), the actual database file that gets updated is somewhere under the users "my documents" tree instead of c:\program files\powerhome\database.
If it's working for you...I definitely wouldnt change it. If you're periodically backing up your database though, you may want to make sure you're grabbing the actual database that is being updated .
Dave.

Hi Dave,
Pete is correct, I am using XP Pro. Intel dual core with a couple gigs
of RAM.
It is installed in the default c:\program files\powerhome directory. I
am contemplating formatting and installing xp all over again on the
weekend if you think that might help.
Just getting a little frustrated when ph has run so well all this time,
and all I wanted to do was make things faster. A 733Mhz machine
does not make for commands happening real quick, but apparently it
did make ph run well. :-)
Thanks,
Brian
