Have you been able to confirm the problem I detailed below Kev?

Sliding from full bright to off hasn't worked yet. I have to stop at some point in between full bright and off before finally sliding it to off before it will actually turn off. Steps detailed below:
1) Slide from full bright to off
2) Nothing happens
3) Slide back to 50% or so
4) Light dims to 50%
5) Slide to off position
6) Light turns off
Also, connection seems to break if iPhone sleeps while app is open.
Sorry to bring all these problems to you! You've made an excellent app! Don't let my focus on improvements indicate otherwise. |

I'm not able to save any buttons in iHome2. Once I close iHome2 and restart it, any button I created is gone?

I found the bug. It is ignoring the event if you let go of the slider and are past the end of the slider. It is fixed. I am going to try to have something to submit to apple by the end of the week.

I have never seen this one before. Sounds like a database problem. Try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it.

Hi Kevin,
Any chance that while you're adding X10 devices you could also add Digital devices?
I'm also having a weird problem, if I go to the buttons screen, I crash back to desktop. It appears that any empty page the same thing happens. I don't have any groups defined yet and if I go to that screen I also crash back to desktop. I have tried deinstall/reinstall twice. The Groups one is no big deal, once I define one I'm sure it will work. But the button screen is more difficult since I can't define a button unless it stays up.
Also, just a small change I noticed, the Global Variables screen has a typo at the header "Global Varialbes"

I can take a look. Anyone know how the device list in PowerHome is
populated?
Good catch with the spelling error.

I tried uninstalling iHome2 on both my iPad and iTouch. Still can't save any buttons on either one.
I notice that a password is required again, which I've added. The test function puts me right into Powerhome and the buttons I create work until I close the program and reopen it. I'm stymied.

Are devices showing up in the device list?

Everything seems to work except the saving of the buttons.
All devices show the current status.
All macros run
I create a few buttons and use them to turn lamps on and off. Then I close the program. When I reopen the program they're gone.

This is a really strange one. When you leave the edit button screen it
saves the button to the database and then refreshes the screen that
shows the buttons. In other words for the button to show up it would
have to be stored in the database.
When you first open the app and go to the device list is it blank or does it
have the devices in the state they were in the last time it did a sync with
PowerHome?
Are there any abnormal characters in your device names or descriptions?
(anything other than a-z A-Z 0-9 _ - .)

Device list shows all devices in the current state.
Only alphanumeric characters and spaces in the device
names.

Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been around much recently. I am in the process of
turning Invisions Technical Arts into something more than just a hobby. I
have not forgotten about iHome but the development was put on hold for a
while. Once Invisions is off the ground I will be able to put the time into
iHome that I have always wanted to put into it. I still have big plans for the
app and building a company behind it will help in the long run.
Checkout the website http://www.invisionsta.com, blog

I understand that you might be busy, and I don't mean to be a jerk, but there's a quite a few of us that have paid money for an app that is broken.

Report the situation to the App store, application broken, unable to get resolution.. May be able to get refund or at least alert the app store to the situation which may prevent another broken, unsupported app from being accepted.

I understand. The hard part with problem you are having is that I can't
reproduce the bug and you're the only person that has reported having
this issue. From my usage tracking I have a few ideas, but they are long
shots and will take a lot of work.

Does this comment really help any one?
First, the iTunes Terms of Service clearly state that all sales are final. I
don't agree with this and would be glad to give a refund but this is not
something I have control over. Don't hold that against me. Trust me I have
spent my share of money on apps that I would love refunds for.
Second, the app largely works. There are a few features that we dropped
from the earlier releases of the app. If you read back you will see that I
asked the community if they would wanted iHome 2 sooner or if they
wanted to wait until every feature could be added. No one showed any
interest in holding off so I released it.
Third, I am a single developer doing this as a hobby. There are only so
many hours in the day and trust me iHome is not profitable. You can't
expect the same level of support that you would get from even a small
company. If you need that level of support maybe you should try a
program that has a company behind it. I hear Indigo is pretty nice.
If you have or anyone has suggestion please let me know. One thing I
have considered is releasing the old version of iHome as a free app.
Another option would be to roll iHome back to the old version and release
iHome2 as a free app until I have time to go back and add those missing
features.

If there's anything I can do on my end to help narrow down the crashing problem. Please let me know. I have already completely uninstalled the app and re-downloaded. There doesn't appear to be any specific point or specific action other than I'm working with the buttons in some way, that causes the app to crash. Sometimes I can get a couple of buttons on before it crashes, other times, I can't even link it to a device or macro without crashing. I've been working very hard to narrow down the circumstance, but no luck yet.

Well that changes things a little. Since it fails at different times have you
been able to get a button to the point that when you close and open the app
it is still there?

It is not a hobby when you sell a product. If every defect was a simple, oh yea, I know how to fix that, the world of programming would be much simpler. The fact that one user has a problem is irrelevant.
I think my comment was very helpful!
It generated a response that had not been forthcoming and maybe an interest in saving the reputation of the product and its author. Once a product is viewed as defective and not supported you have a mountain to climb for any future product acceptance. It is only necessary to look at the product whose forum this topic is on. Powerhome is viewed as a great product with excellent support not because it is defect free but because the author has jumped through hoops to identify and resolve problems. If one is not prepared to provide support and solutions no matter what the cost in time and effort one should get out of the business. Sorry if you find that offensive. I was a professional programmer for more than 30 years so I speak from a position of some experience.
