Hi,
I just installed version 1.03.4.7 on my Windows Vista (Official release) and everithing work fine excluded the driver for the USB 1132U Powerlinc controller that result as not connected.
The drivers for this device are installed and working (accoring with vista).
The device still a hidserv.dll but is larger than in XP.
No idea on how to fix that.

Gustavo,
When does this error appear? Is there any other text along with the error that might help me in tracking it down?
Thanks,
Dave.

Dave,
when i start powerhome, first appears this small screen saying:
"Script Server
An error occurred while creating the script server: -2"
if i hit OK, then comes this another window:
A critical error occurred at 2006-12-08 04:12:36.696.
PowerHome Version: 1.03.4.9
Error Number: 35
Error Message: Error calling external object function f_phscrver at line 18 in function f_framestartup of object w_frame.
Window: w_frame
Object: w_frame
Event: f_framestartup
Line: 18
You should make the necessary changes to correct the error and then restart PowerHome
hope it helps,
Gustavo

Gustavo,
Ok, that gets us a little further. The Script Server is the Windows Script host engine for PowerHome. Most likely the phscr.pbd activex is not properly registered or Windows Script Host is not properly configured on your machine. You may want to check the Microsoft site to make sure that WSH will run on Vista and what special procedures may need to be taken.
To ensure that the phscr.pbd is properly registered, download the following reg file here phscr.zip and merge it into your registry. You may need to edit the last couple of lines to match your PowerHome Installation directory if you installed other than the default.
See if that helps at all.
Dave.

Sorry for the wrong information.
Microsoft is Running Windows Script Host v5.7 in Vista.
not 5.6 as I mentioned above.

If the above reg file didn't fix it then it most likely is an incompatibility between WSH 5.6 and WSH 5.7.
Looks like I'll need to setup a machine and start testing Windows Vista .

I got PH to run under "Vista Home Basic 64bit" with the 308 release of the Smarthome Device Manager. The older release of DM doesn't work.
Going to try the 32bit version(s).
More later.

another error that pops up when i tried to save the PLC settings in insteon explorer.
A critical error occurred at 2006-12-27 01:33:50.841.
PowerHome Version: 1.03.4.9
Error Number: 2
Error Message: Null object reference at line 5 in clicked event of object st_saveplc of w_insteonexplorer.
Window: w_insteonexplorer
Object: st_saveplc
Event: clicked
Line: 5
Im running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition and PH with SDM 308.
Dave, this is a new error.
btw. I noted that there's no communication between PH and SDM. everything you do with PLC in PH, causes an error. if you open the SDM alone, the SDM shows that PLC is connected.
info from SDM:
downloadTimer started
timerActivate enabled
SDM:DM=active,1.01.138.308,12/27/2006 2:11:53 AM,responded,05.F9.7C,2.13,xdevices=True

Gustavo,
Sorry, not yet . It probably won't be for at least another 3 weeks. Top priority at the moment is working towards a release version. Im getting beat up on it at the moment.
Dave.

Oh oh, Dave, does this mean that powerhome will not currently run on Vista?
My current plan (wife approved - so difficult to change) involves my powerhome installation moving to a vista box in the very near future.
How much effort should I be putting into getting this plan changed? i.e. How long until PH supports Vista?
Thanks, Tony

Tony,
Not sure. Moniputer and LLLXX report it working (LLLXX with a problem with the 1132U though). However, Gustavo has a problem with the Script Server (and the SDM).
I havent had a chance to load up Vista yet, but will after the next beta comes out. Once I get it loaded up, Im hoping that whatever "adjustments" that have to be made will be relatively minor and easy to make.
That said, the more people testing it, the better. When I load it up, it will probably only be under the 32 bit Vista Business edition (since that is likely the only copy I'll have).
Dave.

Any word on Vista Compatibility?
I'd may be looking at running it on 64bit Vista.

Just my 2 cents......(and NOT to start a flame war)....
IMHO (if you have the choice), stay away from Vista UNTIL....the bugs get worked out (like until Service Pack 2).
As I understand it, Vista is a complete code re-write. THERE WILL BE BUGS. Do yourself a favor and spend the effort learning more about PH (using a known operating system like XP). Each day I find more and more things out about PH that make it more useful.
If you have the choice.....
