Dave,
I have had no problem with Vista or 7.
For Brian you wrote a fix from this post:

"Got it!! The problem is that your modem is using MESG instead of NMBR for the numbers that are not recognized. This is very wierd and something I havent yet encountered.

Not sure what the fix is unless I modify the plugin to search for both NMBR and MESG. I'll see what I can do tonight and hopefully we'll have a new version out.

Dave."

I wonder if he has changed his telco service or possible his modem drivers.

Appreciate the feedback guys..at least it shows that there isnt a specific problem with Windows 7 and the CID plugin (something I was afraid of).

Ive been looking at the CID code and I can see the MESG option already in there. So the current version that is included with PowerHome already includes the specialized code for Canada. Im thinking we might have a UAC type of issue with Win 7 that Ive posted in the other thread.

Dave.

Does CallerID Plugin support wild card telephone numbers for Telemarketing hang-up? For example 20300*=*** which represents the first 5 digits of an incoming call.

Wildcard support would be cool...just need to think of the best way to implement it since the current plugin is referencing the numbers using the standard INI routines which don't allow for wildcards.

Since Im currently playing around with the CID plugin and rewriting to make it more generic, I'll see if I can add this support in.

Dave.

Update to this ole thread. I had CID working for a long time with Vista until I reinstalled PH in its own directory not the default. I updated the ID trigger with the correct path and also registered PH_CID.ocx. Checked it out with HyperTerminal and it still won’t fire. Works fine if I install to the default directory. It also shows up in the help screen – About- Plugins as Enabled. Any thoughts??

This reminds me.... I never did get my CID working after I
re-installed and updated PH. I'll have to look into that
again.

If I remember correctly Dave added support for your local phone company. I wonder if that was carried over to the latest release. My cid plug-in stops periodically but I developed a work around so I’m good to go for now.

Yes Dave it add support for my carrier. We were actually
working on this new problem (months and months ago) and I
think he checked to make sure that extra was still in
place, and it was. I was having other issues with the PC at
the time, so wiped everything, and re-installed Windows and
PH... but never got back to the plugin. I kind of liked it
to.

Tony, my error is a “run time error -5”. And that will kill the plugin. A reinit will bring it back. The failure is random and not very frequent.

Interesting. Problem is, with my system, a reinit kills the web server, so, I just reboot what that happens. I'll post back if it works.

Well the interesting part is when I talked to Dave last spring about it he thought it might be related to something else he had seen. Don’t remember the details as a lot of other discussions where going on at the same time. My solution is I have a mirror running and when the main system has the plugin failure and the mirror doesn’t, the main one does a reinit and it’s good to go.
