Hi guys, long time no post.

I have been moving more and more devices away from x10 to
Insteon. I don't like the built in Dusk Dawn setting of PH.
I have always used one of the motion detectors from x10
with the built in light sensor for this purpose. It sits in
a window and that's all it is for. Works perfect. Is there
something similar in the Insteon world, so far I haven't
found anything.

Thanks

From the SmartHome site...

When used with supported INSTEON software or an INSTEON automation controller, Motion Sensor can also be used as a dusk/dawn sensor. After it has been bright for 3 and a half minutes, Motion Sensor will send an Off command for its 'Group 2', which can be used to turn off lights and appliances or trigger a software event. Conversely, it will send an On command after it has been dark for 3 and a half minutes.

Smarthome has a combination of a LS2 and a I/O Linc that is Insteon with an adjustable settings that works great. I’ve tried the motion Sensor, have 4, and have not gotten the results I needed.

Well damn! I searched their site for light sensors, dusk /
dawn and those words separately and neither of those
devices came up!

The x10 motion had been very reliable, but like the rest of
my x10 stuff has never been as reliable in my new house.
I'll probably go with the sensor and I/O Linc. The x10
motion sits in a basement window, so the motion part isn't
used anyway.

As always, thanks for the help guys.

The I/O Linc uses this and make sure they send you the LS2 as the LS1 is X10 only.

and
LS2-INSTEON-Light-Dusk-Dawn-Sensor/p.aspx?
green=5359538662">this
correct?

Yep.. You’ll need the I/O LINC plus the LS2. They shipped the LS1 twice before they got it right. It clearly states the LS1 will NOT work with Insteon. I find the sensitivity to be very sensitive so I have to gate it to keep it from triggering on and off as you cross that threshold. Otherwise it is much better than the Motion Sensors.

When you install the I/O LINC Ken, with the help of Lee, did a good job of documenting the device setup. That can be found at this post.

Excellent, thanks Pete. I'll probably wait until after
Christmas to get this part, I just received my box of new
goodies yesterday. The Dusk/Dawn is next on the list!

Just to give you a heads up. I am fighting multiple firings with slight changed in the light trigger point. Continuous ons and offs but I think they are associated with the ambient lights coming on. I’ll update you when I fix it.
