Hi - I've searched the forum a bit, but I can't find any information on whether the latest release added any support for extended commands (for devices like Synchrolinc). Can anyone enlighten me?

(I also notice that Synchrolinc isn't on the list of devices :-{ )

 Thanks!

Latest release should have full support for Insteon
extended commands but nothing has been built
specifically for the synchrolinc (such as the Options
 button on the Devices tab).

Ive never had one of these devices to play with so
havent added specific support. I have taken a look at
the developer notes and you should be able to create
the links to the controlled devices the same as any
other Insteon device. The only other settings are the
settings to setup the "trigger" wattage, the
hysteresis, and the hold-off time. This is a simple
0x2E extended command to read and set these values and
I can give you details on how to send it from within
 PowerHome.

As far as creating a "Type" entry, the Devcat is 7 and
the Subcat is 9 (if you auto-discover the device
PowerHome will automatically create a base "Type"
entry for you). I would then set the Responder groups
to 0 and the Controller groups to 1.

 Hope this helps,

 Dave.

 | for getting back to me. I've had the Synchrolinc
working since 2.1.4 but working with it is admittedly
 a little low-level. :-}

I was replacing one recently and looking back at the
info you gave me at the time (which included how to
set up the wattage, etc), and the same Email said
there would be more support in 2.1.5. Not
complaining, but I was curious if anything had been
added that might make it easier to handle devices like
Synchrolinc, etc. (I'm ok if there's isn't much for
Synchrolinc specifically, SH tells me it's not a big
seller :-}), but I looked through the release notes
and I didn't see anything on point (Although I think
there were a couple of new commands added?), that's
 all really.

I didn't follow your last paragraph (I think you
assumed I had some context that I lack - sorry!) but
not a big deal, it works fine identified as a
 Controllinc.  :-}

 Thanks!

Gotcha. I still havent gotten 2.1.5 out yet as the
zwave is still kicking my butt. It's definitely
holding up alot of other things so Im still trying to
decide how best to proceed since I'd like to get some
of these fixes and enhancements out.

If I had already sent you stuff for the 2E command
then you're probably good. The additional support
would be in the form of an "Options" button for the
device on the Devices tab which would have the 3
settings you can read/update and it will do the
command for you in addition to having a "Type" already
 pre-programmed.

Last paragraph was in reference to the SynchroLinc not
being on the "list of devices" which I assumed you
were referring to the "Types" tab in the Insteon
Explorer. If the "ControLinc" type is working for you,
I would just go to the "Types" tab and duplicate that
entry and then change the devcat and subcat and the
controller groups and responder groups and then give
it an appropriate description. That would then give
you a proper synchrolinc type for you that you could
 then assign to your device
  .
 Dave.

I understand the last paragraph now - might want to do
that for a couple my devices - thanks!

So I think you're saying that if I got to the options
tab for some of the listed devices with advanced
 features I'll see device-specific controls. Ok -
don't create options for synchrolinc just for me - I
already have what I need coded

 | !!! Ive had my head buried in the zwave protocol so long I cant even keep track of the version numbers. I stand corrected. It's definitely something I overlooked as I had hoped to have more of the Insteon device specific configurations in the current version (I also missed the Fanlinc for Ken ).
Version 2.2 will be the "Zwave" version and will also have additional extended device support such as the synchrolinc and FanLinc. However, due to the time involved in getting this version just the way I like, I may have to do a 2.1.6 or 2.1.5e (probably would be 2.1.6 just so I can keep track of everything). Ive got several new things I'd like to release but the current bug in the plugins framework is holding that up as well.

 Dave.

 | me now. All I was curious about is whether you had
added some tweaks that I could use. If/when they get
added, I'll use them, but I'm all set for now. Don't
 stress :-}
