Is it my imagination or does installing dual
band switches make it harder for the old
switches to work reliably? Especially when I
installed a switch in a box with other old
switches, those old switches will start having
really poor performance. And it seems that once
you reach a critical mass of dual band switches,
your whole house will start having issues with
the old switches.
Or is it just me?

That has not been my experience. To me, the new dual band switches seemed to have improved my system robustness.
Admittedly, I have had plenty of older switches die on me.

Skip,
Im with Steve and havent found the dual band devices to cause communication problems for me. Like Steve, Ive found the opposite and they definitely seem to have a positive
effect on my communications. I also havent heard or read about any problems along these lines but I wouldnt necessarily rule it out.
I would be interested in hearing other users experiences.
Dave.

Wow, in the last few weeks I have been replacing some of my old switches with new ones. The
first time I replaced a switch in my bedroom and then the switch in the bathroom failed.
Replace that and then two other fail near the bedroom. Replace those and a few more go bad.
Maybe all of my switches are at their end of life because I did install them all at the same
time. But it sure feels like each time I replace some switch, I can plan on needing to
replace a few more.
