Dave,

I don't want to make you angry, if so...sorry...

Idea 1: perhaps a wise idea to appoint an Assistant
Board Admin(s) which can remove spammers and their
posts?

Idea 2: adapt board registerprotocol to prevent
spammers e.g. Aproval by the board (assistant)admin(s)
before able to make posts?

Peter

Would it make sense that in order to post on the board, you have to own a valid license? The sign up protocol could validate a license #. Maybe that would also help reduce some spam.

(Hmmm, I have no idea what my license number is.....nevermind)

I'll have to check the board options to see if there
is a way to require a manual intervention before a new
user can post.

I wouldnt want to make it license dependent (that
option wouldnt exist in the board software anyway) as
we get a fair amount of users that havent yet
registered/purchased the software and have questions
during the 30 day evaluation.

Probably the best course would be to look into the
manual approval before a user can post.

Dave.

I Agree with Dave that is not a good Idea to make it license dependent, that way you make the board part of the sales instead of being a service.

A new user has to be denied the possibility to post at once, this is exactly the "whole" spammers make use of.
An existing mailaddress is not an option as well since there are sites like 10minutemail.com...No, Manual intervention by Dave or maybe the newly appointed assistant board admin(s) is the best course of action.
