So my Insteon/Powerhome home control system has been running great for years. About 5 years ago I bought some extra modules on sale, but over time, I've used all of them for expansion or (rarely) replacement. So I went to smarthome to buy some more - they're not made anymore! and the replacement is 40% more expensive and doesn't even have an outlet.

So what's a home hobbyist to do? Is there any source for the old-style modules? (Not much on eBay that I see). There used to be some 3rd party sellers - any still around with old inventory?

Any/all thoughts welcome.
Thanks!

I would STAY FAR AWAY from the older stuff...the newer stuff has RF and power-line (like it should have been from the start - but wasn't). As you likely know, the old stuff was power-line only. For me, the newer devices seem to be more responsive (less communication "retrys").

As for the reliability (switch life), I have had many failures over the years. In the cases where I bought product from SmartHome (and was still in the warranty period), they did honor the warranty. That paid for more than juts a few modules. Stuff bought elsewhere was a replacement nightmare.

Older stuff works great for me. my power line is clean enough. And I've had few failures (like 3 in 10 years). I know about 3rd parties - but if one had hoarded a bunch of old-style modules I'd buy a few..
