does PH support it anyway? Please don't tell me I have to
go out and buy yet another controller (I started
with a CM11A years ago, been through the ringer with
controllers.) If so, what do I select in the Wizard? What
 are the settings/parameters?

 Thanks for any help.

Just some knowledge for you, I'd recommend the XTB-232 as a CM11a replacement. It sends a much stronger signal than a CM11a could ever. I've been using it for years with absolutely NO problems. I can't recommend this device more. If you're using x10, this device is rock solid.

Someone else will have to explain how to use the 2414u. I'm not familiar with it.

 | have not tried the wizard but if its has an option of
 "insteon
 PLM" pick that up.

you will also need to know what serial port your controller
 was
installed in windows. if its was working with houselinc then
 it
 should be in device manager.

there is always an option to setup manually.

edit : if above not work you can try picking up "PowerLinc
 1132U"

It should work ok BUT somewhere in the back of my mind there might be a version for HouseLinc only that won't work with PH. I would try it any ways and see what happens.

Its normal to get a huge log , which you can see it in event log and later trim it to your liking with simple command.

If you've got the wizards, then you're probably using PowerHome 2.1b. I would highly recommend updating to the latest 2.1.5c. It doesnt have the wizards (other than the CC wizard) but they werent that great to begin with. The 2.1.5c version is faster and more stable and has a few more features as well as a much better help file and documentation.

The 2414U should work ok and it sounds like you've got it going. Based upon the settings you choose in Insteon Explorer, PowerHome will continuously poll the PLM/PLC for the latest info and scan links, etc. You can undo this if you like if you prefer to run mostly quiet.

 Dave.

It pulled in maybe 3 or 4 device types; is that normal?
I'd rather not have to go through and tell it what each
device is, I have about 100 devices. I'd like to get that
database populated before switching to something that
 doesn't have a wizard.

Sorry to take so long getting back to you but will
 respond anyway.

The wizard won't have anything to do with pulling in
your existing Insteon devices. Its useful for creating
new Insteon devices from scratch (or new entries for
existing devices). The Insteon Explorer (different
from the wizard) is what you would use to bring in
your existing network and you have several options. On
the Setup tab of Insteon Explorer, you can click the
"Create" button to create entries in PowerHome from
any devices/links that are currently stored within
your PLC/PLM from your previous system. This should
create PowerHome entries for all your devices but
you'll have to give them ID's and descriptions that
match the actual device since this information is not
stored anywhere within the PLM or the Insteon network.

Another option would be to manually enter two or three
devices that have alot of links (keypadlincs are good
for this) and then have the "Allow Link Spidering"
option checked. PowerHome will start scanning the
database links of these initial devices and will auto
create Insteon devices for any new addresses within
these links. These new devices will in turn have their
databases scanned and so on and so on. You should get
most of your Insteon network built into PowerHome and
would only have to manually add devices that are
really linked to your other devices. Again, you'll
have to put rename ID's and descriptions to match the
device in a meaningful way since that info isnt stored
 anywhere within the Insteon network.

Another option for adding devices is to place the
Insteon Explorer in "Auto Discovery" mode. With
PowerHome listening in this mode, visit each Insteon
device and place it in link mode and then exit link
mode. PowerHome will listen for this specific command
and create a device. The advantage to doing it this
way is that the devices will be created in numeric
order and if you keep a list of devices you visit in
order, it'll be easy to set the ID and description to
 the proper value.

Again, all of this is done independent of the wizard.

 Dave.
