I'm using PowerHome via a SmartHome 2414u controller; I
have about fifteen SmartHome 2456S Insteon On/Off
"appliance linc" controls.

For whatever reason, my 2456S Insteon On/Off "appliance
linc" controls don't always "hear" the command to turn on
or off - could be RFI or other noise, I don't know.

When PowerHome tells "LAMP1" to turn on, for example, and
"LAMP1" in fact DOES NOT turn on, PowerHome shows a green
"ON" status anyway.

What gives? I thought Insteon switches were capable of
reporting actual "ON" or "OFF" status, that PowerHome was
capable of communicating with Insteon devices to learn
their status, and that PowerHome would display the actual
status that the Insteon device reported. Powerhome is
showing "ON" status for devices that it TOLD to turn on,
but that are not ACTUALLY on.

If the "LAMP1" doesn't turn on when the PowerHome timed
event told it to, I click the "ON" button in the
PowerHome interface and the lamp will usually turn on. My
understanding was that PowerHome would keep trying to
turn "LAMP1" ON until it reported back that, indeed, it
was ON.

Do you have the modules linked to the controller? That is the only way PH would know the actual status.

PH will not keep forcing the status that it has. You can program that yourself, though.

Milosz,

It sounds as if you might not have the "Update on ACK" option checked. With this option unchecked, PowerHome will update status as if a command succeeded. Checking this option will cause PowerHome to only update once it gets an ACK back from the controlled device (which should mean that it received the command and did as it was instructed successfully).

PowerHome will eventually update the status if you've got "Enable pending" checked, "Status Scan" checked, and a "Poll Interval" > 0. With these settings, if no other background operations are pending, PowerHome will poll the status of devices in a loop. Depending upon where the device in question is in the loop is how long it will take to update the status.

Probably the real issue though is that "Update on ACK" is not checked so you're getting the status updated automatically when a command is sent.

Hope this helps,

Dave.

That's not it. Look at this screenshot.

Yes the modules are linked.

milosz,

Sorry to take so long responding.

Since the "Update on ACK" is checked, you should not be seeing that behaviour. Would it be possible for you to "Echo Raw Log to File" while controlling the appliance module where the status does not match the actual state? It will help in determining what may be going on.

Remember, you'll need to edit the path/filename for the raw log in the Controller settings.

Thanks,

Dave.

How do I do that? I don't see any option for editing the
path/filename.

Try Setup > Controllers > Settings > "Echo Log File"

Don't forget to reinit.

OK, but where is "SETUP?"

Go to Windows drop down and check Powerhome Explorer. You should see it in the left side. Also try clicking on E in the toolbar. See if that gets you there.
