I am considering a switch from insteon to UPB and I would rather not need to move software applications. Is support forthcomming for other protocals other then X-10 & Insteon?

Dave said that UPB and z-wave are coming. He'll need to comment on the time frame.
Talking to Martin again?

Yup... I was looking into buying more stuff and he is recommending(again) I try UPB... I know Dave said he is working on it but I was looking for a time frame... next release? 6+ Months...
I know that making new protocols work is going to be a real pain for him. But it opens him up to a lot more users!

UPB is planned for the next beta (and what Im currently working on). Depending upon how development goes, there might even be an alpha.
HTH,
Dave.

UPB is moving along. It's a complicated beast, much like Insteon was. Support will be there in the next beta (just a few more weeks ).
Dave.

UPB is going to be BIG for PowerHome. I've been hounding Dave for months to please write a driver. The "Get Status" command is going to clean up a majority of issues with ELK.

Cant wait!!! I ordered my UPB Starter kit and an extra PLC for my ELK/PH install. I should have everything in 5-7 days unless the 50" cabinet I ordered delays things in shipping... But If you need any pre-alpha/beta testing Dave I am willing to help out.
