Dave,
First off, thanks for everything that you do for us here. My HA system would be quite
different if it weren't for you.
I was hoping that you could take a few minutes to tell us what your plans are for
PowerHome this year. I know that you are working on more I2CS integration. Do you have a
timeline in mind for the next release? What features will the next version incorporate?

Dave,
PowerHome has served me well for the last few years, but I'm considering where I want to go with my home automation efforts in the future and some insight to your plans would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Mike..

Beta 2.1.5 is coming soon. It will have more
comprehensive I2CS integration as well as some behind the
scenes rewrites. We'll be on the latest 12.5 version of
PowerBuilder and will be upgrading the ASA database
engine to version 11.
There will be tighter Insteon integration with dedicated
device support for the GarageHawk, IOLinc, etc. Alot of
general and specific bug fixes that have been reported
since 2.1b. Updates to most of the third party controls
such as the sockets and COMM controls to overcome some of
the existing limits. New plugins. New PH functions.
Im currently battling a nasty bug where the system is
hard hanging in my test environments so this is causing
the current delay. I cant in good faith release a build
that may or may not run continuously for a couple of days
without hanging. Once I get the bug squashed, then Ive
got update the DB upgrade utility, do the packaging and
install executable. I would estimate another month
before that is complete.
After 2.1.5 is released, I'd like to address support for
some of the additional controllers and protocols Ive
promised. PLC-Bus, Zwave, and some other controllers
such as the ISY. Ive also started a rewrite of the
Control Center with enhancements so that its very easy to
display/modify various devices without having to do
triggers.
This is what the current roadmap is looking like.
Hope this helps and if you have any specific questions or
comments, please post.
Dave.

Dave,
Thanks very much for the quick response! The roadmap sounds promising and I look forward to 2.1.5.
If I could make one request - please consider making documentation updates one of your priorities. I've been trying to use some of the new features and functions in 2.1.4, but it's frustrating having to search the forum for scraps of information. If you could just update the help file it would be a HUGE help!
Thanks again for all your efforts!
Mike..

Scott,
I know what you mean. I'll make it a priority after the
2.1.5 update as this will definitely benefit everybody. I
appreciate you reminding me because I get so caught up in
the development I do neglect the docs.
Dave.

This is great news! Thanks, Dave.
I wonder if we can help with the documentation. The wiki's here could help cover the gap.
There's a lot of smart people here that could contribute. We would just need from Dave the
key things to look for that have been updated. And maybe someone to organize the wiki so
that we can identify what topics need covering.

My nomination for that task is Ken (GadgetGuy). It’s tough living down a reputation when you’re good.

I fully support making a wiki and letting this forum take
care of the docs. Lets let Dave keep his focus on the
development!

We need a working help file....something that causes the the ph function to become bold when using the macro editor etc... SHould work just like the ph-help.chm file does now....
my two cents....

If anyone would like a wiki account, just let me know.
I'll create the account with the same userid as the forum
with a default password that you can change on first login.
I looked into automatically setting up wiki accounts to
match forum accounts but couldnt do it because the
passwords are hashed with a salt on the forum with no way
for me to synchronize them.
Dave.
