I am running PH 2.1.4 and have a single 2441V (new version but not I2CS). Current thermostat temp and mode update on the Device List to reflect the display on the physical thermostat but cool and heat set points do not. The cool and heat set point values on the Device List seem to change somewhat randomly, always at 'reasonable' value but often 'crossed' (cool sp at 66 and heat sp at 70!). Do I need to poll the Thermostat periodically to get the set points to update in the Device List?

Thanks,

Terry

Terry,

Most of the problem is the poor support that Insteon has for thermostats. The problem is that there is no command to poll the cool setpoint or the heat setpoint. All you can do is poll for the "setpoint". PH does this but then tries to assign the polled setpoint to the correct heat SP or cool SP based upon the mode. If the mode is off, then a query for "setpoint" returns 0. So it makes querying the cool SP and heat SP a not so accurate exercise.

Insteon does provide separate commands to "set" the cool and heat setpoints and PH will update the values appropriately.

The next beta (2.1.5) has the thermostat functionality completely rewritten. The thermostat table is gone and the individual tstat options are now a part of the analogio table with the ability to poll each individually at different intervals. Also, the latest tstat commands have also been implemented where you may not even need polling. The new V2 thermostats support sending insteon commands when a local change occurs and PH will now respond to these. SmartHome still hasnt fixed the deficiency with polling a cool/heat SP, but in my testing, the new commands and functionality has been more reliable.

Dave.

Save,

Thank you for the detailed explanation. We are all looking forward to 2.1.5.
