Cannot believe what a mess I have. I needed to swap two Insteon Switchlincs which I thought I could do by just changing the addresses in the "Replace Address" section of Insteon Explorer. This didn't work. Every time I tried to save it, the old addresses returned. I then tried to delete each device and add them back in and then add the links. One of the devices seemed to add links but later on it just says Link Not Found. The other device is a total bust. The links are all Flagged Create, but then the device gets checked "Disabled." I uncheck it, click Save, and then all the links are placed in the Pending Operations column. But, instead of writing the links, the entire column disappears in one second with no change in link status. When I look again, the device is check "Disabled"!? If I uncheck it and save again, the same thing happens. The links don't write and are "Flagged Create."
I did apply the I2CS patch, but I tested rebuilding the links on other devices with no troubles. I made sure the devices are "Legacy" in the IEngine column.
I also have rebuilt the database and (as far as I know) have factory reset the Switchlincs prior to rewriting. I have also reset the PLM and done an Add Full to the PLM.
Does anyone know what would cause this odd behavior?

Handman,
Not sure what may be going on but what I would try is adding the devices as new devices instead of trying to get them in using the "Replace Address" column. Just add two new lines to the Insteon devices tab, give them unique ID's, leave the type to Auto Detect and manually key in the address and then save. These may be I2CS devices and if so, this process should get them recognized and setup by PowerHome. If that works, and your original devices are still in the database with their links then you can try the "Replace ID" or "Swap ID" functions.
Let me know how it goes.
Dave.

I'll try, but just so I am clear, these are old Insteon devices (4 years old at least) that I have been using successfully. All I wanted to do was swap two switches to each other's location. I'll try what you suggest, but can I have two devices with the same Insteon address?

I had to delete the old devices since PH wouldn't allow two devices with the same address, but I was able to write most of the links again. One of the Switchlincs was identified as a Switchlinc as "I2" and "Use Ext for ALDB" was checked. Another was also identified the same way. A final Switchlinc was identified as neither Legacy nor I2 nor I2CS. I was able to set this switch up to respond to two other switches, but I am unable to get this switch to control the other two! The link just says "Flagged Create." Incidentally, the comm reliability is only about 33% on this switch now. Hmmmm. Getting closer . . .

Well, after a whole night of status scan polling, all the unwritten links have resolved just fine, so this will have to be chalked up to the, "Unknown problem - solved by Dave" category. Thanks Dave.
