If there are no commands being sent/traced in the Insteon Raw Log for the LampLinc how can it be a defective LampLinc.

Changing the iEngine to Legacy or I2 cannot produce a successful result. The commands necessary for Legacy do not exist in an I2CS LampLinc and I2 will not produce the necessary authorization link between the PLM and the I2CS LampLinc.

If the required authorization link has not been created between the PLM and the LampLinc not being able to control or create link records is the expected result. The I2CS firmware enforces the I2CS requirements. Not all I2CS firmware enforces all the I2CS requirements but the basics are there on all the devices. This includes the LampLinc sending a NAK back because the authorization link is not present which results in the Disable.

Using a test macro issue a ph_insteon statement with a dec 13 (0x0D) command. Have the Insteon Raw Log being written to a file. Post the Insteon messages generated by sending the dec 13 command to the LampLinc. The response will indicate if an authorization link has been created.

What happens if you press the set buttons on both devices what I call physical link. Controller then the lamplinc.

As a test I ordered another 2457D2. That one links up to
the controller with the web tool just fine. It's
controllable via the web tool *and* PowerHome. After
setting it to autodetect I've now got it to link up to
devices via PowerHome just fine.

For what's it's worth, my assessment that it's bad was
based on the fact that it's not controllable by the web
linking process of the 2412 nor will it manually link
(aka using the link buttons) to any device other than the
LampLinc 2 that I got at the same time. I've tried
linking it to the newest SwitchLinc that I have (which is
about 7 months old) and that didn't link either. It
apparently links to the 2412N just enough that the 2412
can see it's status and turn it off, but never turn it
on. It's badness is confirmed by the fact that I did a
factory reset and tried EXACTLY the same steps as I had
done with the new one and it's still not working.

Can't get much better than that with the limited resources.
