I seem to have a mess in my Insteon Types table,
especially when it comes to KPLs.

AutoDetect Type doesn't seem to be adding new types to
the table and in the Device Type on the Devices tab just
displays XXXX-NEW DEVICE TYPE despite multiple
Save/Refreshes, re-inits, or even restarts of PH, but
there is never an entry in the Types Table.

If I attempt to rediscover the device again, it
increments the number (eg, 63) that initially appears in
the the Device Type field before it changes to XXXX-NEW
DEVICE TYPE. The Types table is clearly being added to,
but no new entries are showing up!

Does anyone have a table of the Types with accurate data
 filled in?

If not exportable easily, then just the KPL devices would
 be very helpful.

I've been working on this for days and can't seem to make
any headway that I really trust!

Try this link

He has been very good at collecting device information including the various cat/subcat values.

Also I think it is the 0x10 (dec 16) command that returns the cat/subcat/firmware for the device.

Thanks Lee. I thought you might have some info.

That link helped a lot and identified the errors in my
tables. Very nice site to know about.

 Thanks.

PS- Any chance you might make the 3rd annual PH
"convention" this year (whenever it occurs in Apr?? So far
only BeachBum and myself have made it.)

Lee -

Your suggestion about an 0x10 command returning the Device
info sounds like an extremely useful command, but what is
the full context of its usage?

If used as in "ph_insteonwithret ("MID BHALL KPL", 16, 0 )"
all I get back is a zero so there must be more to "the rest
 of the story"

There should have been more than the initial ACK which has no useful information. The next two messages carry the cat/subcat/firmware information 01 03 27. The 01 03 is an ICON Dimmer cat/subcat, the 27 is the firmware level

WONDERFUL & RIGHT ON!

Very helpful and lets me now check other switches I have
added that were not in my PH original database Types.

I hadn't thought of turning on the Raw Log trace and
looking at it. I just assumed all data would come back in
 the initial device response.

 Now it is all clear.

Thank you for your enormous help.
