I can't seem to get off the ground with Powerhome.

I downloaded the v2.1 demo and tried running the setup wizard. It can't find my Insteon 2414U PLC. So after scouring the forums and determining that v2.1 is seriously out of date, I uninstalled v2.1. Then I downloaded and installed v2.12 beta (couldn't find v2.12 non-beta: is there one?), then overlaid v2.13 (not necessary but I did it anyway), v2.14 and finally the pre-v2.15-beta interim fix. So I should be on the latest version. Now PH looks nothing like what's shown in the Quickstart guide.

As instructed by the Quickstart guide, I run the setup wizard, select "Controllers" and click "Next." PH responds with "Error: Not Available in Beta [OK]." (Selecting "Devices" or "TimedEvents" also gives this
error, but "ControlCenter" does not.)

OK so forget the wizard. I open the PH explorer and go to PowerHome->Setup->Controllers. Under "Controller Type" my 2414U isn't listed. I try "Insteon PLM" (which its not), "PowerLinc USB 1132U", "PowerLinc USB 1132CU", and "Insteon DM". None of them work. I also tried "PowerLinc Serial 1132" with an Insteon 2414S. No luck there either, even though I made sure it was on COM1. I know my 2414U is being seen by the PC since entries in the Device Manager change when I insert/remove it.

Now I go to Insteon Explorer. I get "No Insteon Controller Found; Your Insteon controller is either not defined or currently disconnected." Anyway I click PLC Setup -> Download. I get "Downloading Core Application to PLC. Please Wait...Core Application Download Complete" which looks like it succeeded.

Next I go the File menu and click on "Controller Disconnected." I get "Unable to locate a PowerLinc USB." I go back to look at the file menu and it says "Controller Connected."

I just want to switch my ApplianceLinc 2456S3 from either my 2414S or 2414U to see _something_ work.

OK, I finally got things to work. Apparently PH could not download code to my 2414U through the USB port I happened to plug it into. I tried a different USB port on the PC and things started to work. Curiously, the PC appeared to see the 2414U on both ports. Nevertheless the contradictory messages from PH during all this had me pretty confused.
