Hi, I have a few requests for changes to the Insteon Explorer. This feature was in fact the reason why I purchased PowerHome. It was best software I could find to manage insteon links.
1) Desired Level and Actual level – Can we have this on a scale of 0-100 instead of 0-255? Unless you are a computer it much easier to think in percentage terms. (I know if you mouse over the field it will show you the percentage.. but why not hide the conversion in first place and make it easy for the user)
2) Desired Ramp And Actual Ramp – Same request here.. Can we have a drop down here that displays the time of the ramp rate rather than a number of 0-31?
3) Change 1 and 2 would also apply to the relevant fields in the “Devices Tab”
4) Group ID – Can we have a column for group id and/or group ID description in the “Links” tab? This would be much easier rather than having to flip back to the “PLC Groups Tab” to figure out what group you are controlling or responding to. If you don’t want to add a column can you at least display the group description when you mouse over the group ID?
5) When a pending operation is completed and there are no more additional pending operations can you call a refresh to the links and devices tabs? (I know this is small but I think would help usability)
6) Documentation – I know you are probably working on this, but it would nice if we could get some detail on each of the column headings in the devices tab. Specifically the fields “replace address”, “Replace ID” and “Swap ID” fields look very useful and powerful, but I am not sure of their exact behavior. There is some info scattered on message posts but it is not very specific.
7) Save PNL Settings – this looks to be a bug. I click on this and the message box clear states that my setting will be saved, but after I reopen PH or re inti, I loose all my settings on the top. i.e poll interval and Max failures go to 0, and the only box checked is “scroll log”.
8) Another small bug – In the Links tab: When you click on a field to edit the value, if your mouse moves off the field it becomes uneditable. It is a little frustrating because you intuitively want to move your mouse off the filed so you can see what you are typing.
Thanks! erl
