I have a couple of KPL's configured as 6-button devices.

The large "primary" buttons (group 1 controllers) are my
master "on" and "off" buttons for all my linked devices,
as in 6-button config they are non-toggle on and off,
respectively.

The default behavior of the buttons when pressed is for
them to toggle the LED state of the "other" button to
off.

So for example, when I press the top master "On" button
for my room, all the lights come on, and the top "On" LED
lights, and the bottom "Off" button LED goes off. When I
click the bottom master "Off" button, it's LED lights,
and the top "On" button goes dark.

So while the LED's are correctly following state of which
button is "currently active", it has the side effect of
making the other button appear "unavailable". The best
example of this is walking in the room when it's dark,
the only button you really can see is the lit "Off"
button, and it's hard to even see/realize there's an "On"
button there and available.

Ideally I'd prefer that the other button be dimmed rather
than go off. Alternatively simply having them both stay
lit would be fine.

I can't seem to figure out any way to do this in the KPL
config window. And linking the other button LED as a
responder would seem problematic in that I'm not sure
that's possible in 6-button mode...

For some reason I think I might have had this
working when originally set up years ago... any insights
anyone has apppreciated.

Incidentally I tried this: adding the KPL as a responder to
itself with group 1 ("On") setting button 6 to level 254...
no deal.

Unfortunately, I no longer have a working Keypadlinc that I can test with (I do have 4 currently installed that are burned out and waiting to be replaced).

I think you can probably achieve your goal though by just setting the Backlight value to "On" (it should be on the Config or possibly Config 2E tab). When backlight On
is set, all the buttons are lit dimly but the current button setting will be bright if it is "active".

Alternatively, I don't think you can achieve what you want in 6 button mode. You should be able to set the KPL to 8 button mode but leave the 6 button keys on it. In 8
button mode, each button is independent (the load is controlled by button 1). You should then be able to use intra-button linking on the KPL tab AND actual linking
between the 1,2 and 7,8 buttons to make it appear and act like a 6 button device. If I had a device, I would test this for you to confirm.

Anyways, just some ideas for you to try.

Dave.

Thanks Dave. The backlight was already set to "On", and I
was getting the behavior I mentioned in my original post. I
may give the 8-button config with the 6-button keypad and
intra-button linking a try...if I feel that strongly about
futzing with it, hehe.
