gg102-
I do the same thing you do for the Event Log.  I am talking about the pwrhome.db (data base) file.  I make changes often enough that I want an accurate record of the the db state, especially if I need to restore back to an earlier version.

Accordingly I run the "ph_backupdb()" function every night and name the file with a timestamp (for example) "ph-220630.db".... representing the database on 2022 June 30.

To use that file I rename it "pwrhome.db" and replace the current file of the same name in the powerhome/database folder.

Bottom line.... my daily timestamped db backups need to be trimmed or the files would grow into a collection of way too many.

That is what my trim code is for.  gadgetGuy

GadgetGuy:

Ah yes. I do the same thing. To prevent the overgrowth of database files (what you're describing), I simply use the day of the month as part of the name,
thus I have 30 back databases. Only needed it once. Once is enough.

Great minds think alike!

Thanks,

Discovered probably PH crash reason.
Bank 0 of my Memory array has consistent errors in bits 65 and 40.
I replaced all Memory cards but the errors still remained so assuming it is a CPU or memory driver IC issue.

Good excuse to order a new super duper Gaming Tower which I will use for my Video Production efforts and relegate my prior computer to being the PH Server.

Hopefully this will restore the kinds of reliable PH execution I have experienced for a very long time.

How did you find that out?

All of a sudden PH was crashing regularly with the same
configuration that has been solid for over a year. The
Windows Media Player (WMP) quit playing ANY files but
Streamed OK.

Tried to reinstall WMP but all attempts failed. Then
tried a Windows 10 re-install and it failed twice.

At that point figured I had a hardware issue. Ran HP
provided diagnostics and it immediately discovered the
Memory BankA in slot 0 was bad. But that only gave that
simple error message, so downloaded "MemTest86+"

   www.memtest.org/

which extensively tests RAM (outside of the Windows OS
via a boot USB software load).

The Ap displays a comprehensive failure report including
which bytes and bits are bad.
