PH Team - what is the difference between these two Insteon devices in PH:
2876D - Icon Dimmer 300 watt
2876D - Icon Dimmer 300 watt (Control)
Is one to be used when you have it on a load and one without?? or something else.

That would be my guess since they seem to have the same alpha-numeric (2876D) designation.
Sometimes this would be called a "master and slave" configuration. Slave is connected to the load. All the master does is send command signals.

Patrick,
Smarty has you covered. They are essentially the same except for the description and the "Control Only" box being checked. The Control Only means that the device will not show in the device status screen. It's intended use is for 3-way lighting type scenarios where only 1 switch is actually connected to the load and the other non-load connected switches are "Control Only". This way you don't have multiple rows in the device status screen all reflecting the same light.

Can other devices be marked as Control Only? I'm thinking about my X-10 thermostat in which all codes show up in the status screen.

Tony,
Not X10 devices or the like. You could however easily fix this using the "Filter" column and placing for example "D" in the devices you don't want to show and then setting your device status filter to "filterval not like '%D%'" (without the double quotes of course). This should give you the same net effect

Tony,
You can also use the ph_getdevicefilter and ph_setdevicefilter functions. This way you can setup hotkeys or macros to quickly change your filters. Follow this with a ph_devicerefreshstat function and you're good to go.

Heh,
I don't know if anyone actually uses it  , other than me. I use it with a custom web page so I can quickly change the web based device manager to a more manageable set of devices. Whatever Filter/Sort options you set within PowerHome are automatically reflected in the web Device Manager.
