I was wondering if we could get an update on the progress of PowerHome development. Last
I heard there were plans for Z-Wave (and zigbee??) integration. I have also been
tracking some other developing HA systems that I think would work well with something
like PH. hass.io (https://www.home-assistant.io/); openhab
(https://www.openhab.org/docs/); ifthisthenthat (https://ifttt.com/); google assistant,
yonomi, and others. I guess I wish PH was a little easier to extend with plugins that
the community here could work on.
Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer (assuming we are all in the northern
hemisphere)!

Development progresses. Im done with the Z-wave implementation (at least for the initial release). What Ive got is definitely usable. Zigbee,
unfortunately, is not something that Ive had a chance to look into. Ive also been trying to expand into the IOT arena and have completed a controller
compatible with ThingSpeak.com. Im also in the midst of developing a Wemo controller and investigating if I can create a controller for the cheap
ESP8266 related WiFi controllers such as the eTekCity devices. At the same time Im also working on a generic Arduino controller both wired and
wireless. So alot is in the works and Im trying to tackle some of the latest tech.
Once the above controllers are done, I'll also finish my rework of the webserver. When that is complete, Im going to call it quits for this release
and start prepping for distribution.
On the todo list is also a method to create new controllers via the plugin interface. This will allow other people to develop controllers for
PowerHome.
Ive looked at IfThisThenThat and have actually done a few things using the maker channel but anyone can do this using the ph_geturl function. I would
love to create a PowerHome channel but the cost to license this is prohibitive at the moment.
We already have the plugin interface and Ive distributed a few simple examples but to the best of my knowledge, we don't have any 3rd party plugins
available with all current plugins created by myself. If anyone is interested in developing plugins for PowerHome but is in need of some help beyond
the examples provided, just let me know and I'll do what I can to get you going.
Alexa support will be available after the next release as well. It will require you to create a developer account and copy/paste some simple code but
it works pretty well with the natural language processing functions that will be available in the next version. I would also like to support Google
Home but have not yet had a chance to look into the requirements.
Definitely alot of new tech out there to try and integrate with but just having difficulty trying to get it all done with so much available.
Hope this helps as far as an update.
Dave.
