Just got a SimpleHomenet dry contact controller and it came with a PLM instead of a PLC. Can I define it as a 2414S PLC in PowerHome to manage the links? Will that work OK?

Mike,

Unfortunately no. The PLM is a different animal and PowerHome will not be able to manipulate the links. I am working on this problem however as Ive got a couple of PLM test units.

The SimpleHomeNet is supposed to support the Insteon All Link commands so the "Manual Linking" tab in the Insteon Explorer may be able to assist you (this is what I wrote it for). However, I have not been able to test it yet since I don't currently have any SimpleHomeNet devices.

The theory is that to set the PLM device up as a controller, use the "All-Linking" section. Add the PLM device to PowerHome as a 2414S device and then select this device as the "Remote All-Link Device". Enter the controlling group number and press the "Link" button. This "should" put the PLM device in link mode. Next click the "Link" button in the "PLC as Responder Linking" to "hopefully" link the two together.

For the PLC as a controller, first select the group number and then press the "Launch" button in the "PLC as Controller Linking" section. Then enter the appropriate information in the "All-Linking" section.

I'd be interested in knowing if this works or not.

Dave.
