I am VERY new to this whole process, and I want to customize the screens to run my home theater. I would like to know if I will be able to program a custom screen to run my whole theater including the componets with the touch of a single button.. any help here would be appreciated..

Roger,
Welcome to PowerHome!
What you wish to do is completely doable with PowerHome.
Since you wish to control your Home Theater, the first thing you'll want to do is acquire an Infrared transmitter compatible with PowerHome. Good choices are the USB-Uirt and RedRat3. If cost is no object, the Global Cache works very well.
With the appropriate IR controller, the next step is to create IR devices (using the PowerHome Explorer) for each Home Theater component you wish to control. Learn the IR codes for these devices. Depending upon your situation, you may have to look into some type of IR distribution.
With IR defined, the next step is to create macros for the "one touch" control you desire.
With the macros created, you're now ready to design your custom screens. The Control Center screens within PowerHome are entirely customizable and you'll be able to place individual IR control buttons as well as the one-touch macro buttons.
Of course, if you've got high-end equipment with RS-232 control, you can bypass the IR setup and just use the ph_comm plugin to control your equipment direct.

Thank you for responding Dave,
I have a few more questions, but I will wait till I have had time to play with the program, they may be answered by just trial and error. I have a Global Cache already, and I will probably be using that, unless it proves to be too complicated. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Dave,
I do have one question for now, can PH be controlled by a Ipod touch using the web browser? I have not seen any posts about that, of course I could be looking in the wrong places...

I control PH using the webserver with my Treo. No direct experience with an iPod Touch, but assuming it surfs the web as simply as the commercials would have us believe, then the web interface is fully capable of giving you control.

I found this IR tx rcvr. Tira 2.1

its around $50 but im not sure if its compatible with PH. Maybe Dave could give us the yes it is or no it is not.

It's not in the list of supported devices.
I use a USB-UIRT which is also $50.
