Bonjour like you can see i'm french canadian and my first time with Powerhome and i will make a lot of mistakes when i write and express my problems sorry.

The setup for now:
The PC: XP Professionnel service Pack 3 with Powehome only software. That PC will run only Powerhome with the internet
2414U and one 2475D.
On the PLC setup, i did the download and the add min.

The problem:
Going throught the Quickstart Guide:
Turn ON Light Using the PH status screen: Don't work
Turn on light Using the insteon explorer: Work
Turn on light Using the a Macro: Don't work

From the Smarthome Device Manager log:
downloadTimer started
timerActivate enabled
ui:getplcstatus
PLC:getPLCstatus=beginlist
port=USB4
connected=True
firmware=2.13
id=0E.0E.94
devicetype=InsteonPLC-USB
lastErrorMsg=#0:
endlist
uifinished:getplcstatus
ui:getlinks
uifinished:getlinks
UI:ConnectedAndReady
SDM:DM=active,1.01.88.235,2008-06-28 12:42:16,responded,0E.0E.94,2.13
PLC:getlinks=beginlist
id=0D.67.C2,mode=sla,addr=FCF0,laddr=0000,g=1,cmds=00 00,d=00
id=0E.0E.94,mode=sla,addr=FDA8,laddr=0000,g=1,cmds=00 00,d=00
endlist

If i'm able to control the light with Insteon Explorer Screen why the macro don't work?

Note: very impress by the software and his power, It will be very very nice to have the user manual updated.

Thank for the help

Welcome to PH .. Since nobody else has jumped on this I’ll give it a shot. What happens in the Device Status screen when you click ON? Does it hi-lite or go dim or nothing at all?

2 things.. What were you doing when the error occurred?

And on the other issue.. While in Insteon Explorer I assume you are using the Control. Note when you turn the light on the Insteon Raw Log shows activity. Leaving that window visible go to the Device Status screen and hit on and see if the Log adds any new entries. If I‘m guessing right it won’t.

There is probably a simple explanation but I haven’t found it yet. I’ll keep testing to see if I can duplicate it or maybe someone else will chime in with a solution.
When you tried a macro what did the macro look like?

Instead of Fast On try ON and in the next field tell it 255 for full brightness. I believe Fast On does not check for an ACK if successful.
Have you considered the install may have been broken and to reinstall? I had that happen once from the download.

Have you used the PLC with a different program? Did you do a reset to the PLC by holding in the button while re-plugging? If not try that and Clear and Add Min again. It sounds like PH is not communicating with SDM correctly. What is strange is you can communicate from Insteon Explorer. Maybe Dave will chime in. I think he is in hiding right now…

Well it was worth a try. Now I know why nobody responded in a timely fashion. There are some pretty sharp people on this forum. Dave will see the error report you sent in. Good luck.

Larry,

Welcome to PowerHome!

We'll take it 1 step at a time. Your first problem is that you can control Insteon via the Insteon Explorer (under the "Control" window) but cannot control using a macro or the Device Status screen. The only reason that I can think of for this behaviour is that you havent set the "Controller" column in your definition of your Insteon devices. You can do this through the Insteon Explorer under the "Devices" tab. Scroll to the right and you'll find a column labeled "Controller". Open the Dropdown and there should be a single choice (the ID you have the Insteon controller in Setup). Set this for each of your devices, save your changes, reopen the Device Status and you should be able to control. This will also keep the Insteon macro commands from working.

Try this and let me know how it goes. If all is well, we'll tackle the next problem.

Dave.

Dave

18 inch problem
Thank, the device status and the macro work!

But on my defend on page 14 of the QuickStart (a very big help for guy like me) after step 6 it will be nice to indicate that procedure like it show on figure 3.4.1

I have so many questions to ask but for now i will learn how to use your software and ask the questions later

2Points
A) If you have a sample how to use formula, similar paper like the QuickStart it will be very helpful.

B) When you explain procedures on the forum can you put somes printscreens, like the said an image worth 1000 words

Thank again
