I just added a new KPL to PH. I manually added it through PH Explorer... It's seems to be up and running and controllable, but I'm getting _terrible_ connectivity (COMM Reliability is about 58%) even though it's in a spot where I used to have a SwitchLinc that worked just fine.
I'm wondering whether my setup of the device is somehow to blame. I chose the same device type as my other KPLs (2486DWH8)...
I notice that the IEngine column has filled in with a value of 'Legacy', and am wondering what that means. All of my other KPLs and switchlincs have a blank/null value in that column. The only other 'legacy' device is my PLM. Cound that be part of the problem? Any thoughts on how to improve things?
Thanks,
jtf

All my Controllers have “Legacy” in the column so I don’t think that’s your problem. The 1st thing that came to my mind was the possibility of a loose wire nut.

The Iengine column is not currently used. It was added recently for future support of extended Insteon commands. It will allow you to set on an individual device basis (or be auto-discovered) whether a device should be communicated with standard peek/poke commands (Legacy) or the new extended commands (I2). Currently it serves no purpose so would not be the source of your problem.
It could be a bad KPL or it may be unrelated and just coincidental. If you're troubleshooting trying to figure out what may be affecting the reliability, be sure and reset the comms for the device you're interested in (or all devices if you prefer) by checking the "Clear Comms" column every time you make a change so you can gather fresh statistics rather than having them "averaged" in with the older readings.

Dave,
I will double-check the wiring this weekend. However, I have now come to the conclusion that this is virtually identical to the issue I reported in this thread which resulted in you VNCing into my machine and poking around for a while.
If I understood your findings at that time, you felt that it was an incompatibility between the version of PH and the firmware of the KPL. As this is a brand new KPL, and as I am getting what appear to be the same results (when I try to load the KPL config I get "error reading data from keypadlinc").
FWIW, the last time was solved with PH 2.0, and I haven't had problems with those KPLs since. Is there a chance that there is a new firmware version and that the problem is repeating?
