When internet access is interrupted and a ph_sendemail macro is used,
powerhome seems to wait for a response from the email client, thereby preventing
other stuff from executing. Would it be possible to change the email handling
so that it doesn't block other stuff in this case?

Chris,

I know exactly what you mean.  In my system, if my internet connection is down, PowerHome will hang until I exit the Outlook Express "cant connect to the internet" message.  Unfortunately, I havent been able to modify this behavior as its built into the MAPI interface of PowerBuilder.

But...all is not lost.  The new SMTP email functions will fire away without any waiting or hanging.  I am in the process of searching down all of my sendemail functions and converting them to the SMTP functions.

Let me know how this works for you,

Dave.

Yes, works great!  Forgive me for not RTFM, you did have this documented.

I tested with a working internet connection, then a broken one-- worked as advertised.  PH kept running, and a zero or non-zero value was returned quickly as claimed.  This is a valuable improvement for me-- thanks!
