Hi there,

I would love to be able to monitor indoor, outdoor, pool, and jacuzzi temperatures with my PH and WF800RF32. Does anyone know of any thermocouples (fancy term for temp sensor) that would relay the temp via wireless X10 signal?

Thank you,

Robert

There are wired devices available. These range from 1-wire temperature sensors (from Dallas Semiconductor) to actual thermocouple input devices with serial comms.

Wireless seems like a good idea, but, the device would have to transmit the temp reading every so often, and, collisions could be a problem.

From what I have seen, the 1-wire solution seems the best. When I get home, I'll post some links.

Yeah, but I don't want to have to run a wires from my Jacuzzi and Pool all the way back into my house. Wireless would be great if it did NOT send the data unless it was requested to by PowerHome somehow.

If you like to mess with electronics, this is the way to go...

Here is one link to info on the 1-wire sensor. He talks about interfacing, and, has some software.

http://www.sunpoint.net/~thermometer/

Dallas Semiconductor has a USB to 1-wire adaptor (DS9490R) for $13.75.

Here are the temperature sensors...

I just found an X-10 device for this ($60 though)...

Plus, it looks like you may need a $30 gizmo (X-10 maxi controller) to make this work, too.

I never noticed your reply between my posts!

I don't think any of my finds can be submerged, though.
