hi. just installed powerhome and got the web server up
and running. pretty excited to hit the gas and use some
of the other features now.

I'm struggling with voice recognition. Despite Win XP
recognizing my microphone plugged into my soundcard, I
get the following error when reinitializing PowerHome
after setting up VR:

"An error occurred while attempting to initialize the
voice recognition engine. Voice Recognition will not be
active."

This makes me sad as I feel I'm doing right-ish stuff and
VR is just turning out wrongish. Thanks in advance for
any help.

First thing I would check is to make sure your installed
the "optional" VR downloads (available on the downloads
page). You would need to install the spchapi first
followed by the VR package. I would also install the TTS
as well if you havent done that.

Based upon the error you're getting, it doesnt look like
the VR modules were installed or they didnt install
properly.

Let me know,

Dave.

Looks like it's working. I need to read instructions
better and not try to just do whatever I want :)

Hmm. Now I'm struggling to get through the recognition
training. It'll let me speak through the first lesson,
then it stops recognizing mic input on the second lesson.
I can go back, then get through the first and second, but
not the third. And so on 'til like the fourth where it
just won't recognize anymore.

Any ideas?

Colin

Colin,

Hmmm...Im not sure what would be going on here since at
this point its all in the Microsoft VR engine. Since
you've gone through some of the training, can you actually
get PowerHome to respond to the VR? I know I only ever did
just the first couple of lessons and got pretty good
results.

Dave.
