Has anyone heard of the MP101 from Netgear?

It sits on your wireless lan and communicates with a server that stores all of your MP3's.  The RCA cables are plugged into the AUX ports of your favorite sound system and lo and behold.....your computer serves MP3s.  And you're not limited to that one server, I wouldn't imagine...I haven't tried it yet...but Im assuming the server software can be installed on more than one box.  The MP101 can search for multiple servers and you can select from them.

And it also does Internet radio (Rhapsody, which is Real (audio) I think).  A pay service.  I'm on a 30 day trial and it's pretty cool.

When I get my Redrat and pyramids that'll probably be one of the first things I experiment with......

The original networked music player was a Slim Devices product (www.slimdevices.com). The older unit was the SliMP3, and now the product is called Squeezebox. Other companies make similar devices.

What timing! I just read a great section in the latest PC Magazine that reviews 10 devices in this category (media hubs). They rated the Turtle Beach AudioTron AT-100 tops (of course, I forgot about this one). Check it out at www.audiotron.net.

I checked out all of the items mentioned above and it's pretty interesting.  The Audiotron is a slick looking piece of gear.

I'd like to play with one but probably won't get around to it since Ive already got my PC integrated into my home theater setup.

Keep up posted if you get one these media servers and let us know how you like it.

Dave.
