I have powerhome installed to c:program files and it has worked well for years there on vista ultimate 32 bit. I have starte having problems with my insteon 2412 usb plm and purchased the 2413 usb plm with dual band. It is recognized in ph as a 2414 though and it is flakey. I assume i need to reinstall ph to c: also. What do i need to do to keep my settings for macros etc and move this to c:? I believe I can just install it to c but i'm not sure what to move over.

Never mind, I got it moved over....I just backed up the original, uninstalled it and then reinstalled it to the proper directory. I then just copied everything over top of the new install since they were the same version and then did a find and replace in each of the .ini files with the new install path.
Not the easiest way to do it i'm sure, but it was the quickest for me....

Meant to also say though that the new 2413u is not working for me as well as the 2412u. I'll keep investigating but for now the old setup is working again.
The 2413u just keeps timing out when I try to turn something on or off. There must be something interfering with it that's not affecting the 2412u.Maybe the RF?

Not likely an RF problem since the 2412 had no RF capability to begin with. Are Scenes not working or Direct device control not working? If Scenes not working all the devices with the old PLM address have to be updated with the new PLM address..

Direct device control is not working well. If i unplug the 2413 and hold the button down while plugging it back in to do a reset, then start PH, direct device control works for a bit. Shortly though, within a half hour or so i'm guessing, direct device control stops working. I look at the insteon explorer and see the message times out.

One other thing....how do you clear the event log? Mine is rather large after 2 years....lol

EDIT***A little searching gave me the answer.....setup a timed event using ph_trimeventlog(X) with x being the number of days to keep.

I switch back and forth as necessary between the 2. The only thing I do is Clear and then Add Min. Works fine for me. Just keep the PLM ID the same. This is also true for the 2412N.
BTW trimming the log does not reduce the size of your DB, Need to run phupg after you trim the log.

Thanks for the info on phupg....cut my db size from 505 mb to 5 mb! As far as the 2413U, I did the clear and add min procedure. I tried this two or three times. I kept getting tx...,rx...,rx timeout on every address. I did a reset on the plm by holding the button down until the beep stopped while plugging in the PLM and then did the clear/add min process. It worked....I had it work yesterday by just doing the reset though and it went kaput on me after about an hour. I'll post back later and mention how it's doing.

Looks like I may have an access point problem. My second access point won't light up at all. It flashes very briefly and then nothing.

Use the Add Full option when building a PLM. The Add Min works for the very old PLC. The PLM has different requirements. Not sure it will resolve the overall problem but PLMs require Add Full.

That may just be the Access Points are not close enough to each other for reliable RF communication between them. Find another plug point for one of the Access Points that is closer to the other AP and still on opposite 120v legs.

I just tried plugging the second ap in every outlet in the house and no light. I did relocate the ap that shows an led to another location and that is helping. Is it possible the 2413 is using rf to communicate with the one ap? I upnlugged the second ap (the one with no light) and the setup still works...

I did do the add full btw...

The 2413 PLM is Dual Band. Doing the 4 tap Set button press on the AP should cause the PLM LED to react if in RF range. On my 2413 with v.99 firmware the PLM LED blinks Green when the AP is on the opposite leg, blinks Red when on the same 120v leg.

Tried this and the LED is blinking Green. Are you using just one AP with the 2413?

I use two APs positioned on opposite 120v legs for phase coupling. The PLM is in a location with many other electronic devices and potential RF interference so I depend on the Access Points. If the PLM contributes to the cross 120v leg communication at times so much the better.

I just went ahead and ordered another 2443....I'm pretty sure the one with no LED is dead.

Like Lee I also use a minimum of 2 APs one on each leg. I have also found if you are relying on the rf to bypass noise you need the 1st AP closer to the PLM. I did not see that prior to dual band.

Thanks...that's what I'm seeing too, I believe. The one AP that is working, I moved to a new location in direct line of sight with the new PLM and it's working great.
