Does anyone know if the INSTEON® Water Leak Sensor Model#
2852-222 is supported in PH?

Since it is a standard Insteon Device, I would expect it to
be supported, but it is not listed in the Device Type Tab
of PH 2.1.5

Ken,

Yes, the leak sensor is supported. Version 2.1.5a of PowerHome includes a new Insteon devices table that has all (as of when 2.1.5a was compiled) Insteon devices listed. The user doesnt see this (there are hundreds of entries) but if you auto-discover the leak sensor, PH will search this table and auto-populate the Insteon Types table (what you do see) with appropriate info.

Dave.

Just getting around to start to work with this unit now.

Received the water shut-off valve from SmartHome a few days ago and getting it plumbed in.

For reliability I want to monitor the batteries on these sensors (installing 6 of them).

According to the 2852-222 Water Leak Sensor Manual, it sends a "Heartbeat" message using a Group 4 output command, but there is NO information about what that command is, or how often it occurs.

All of the PH Triggering methods I have tried so far have failed to catch anything other than the Group 1 or 2 wet/dry events.

Does anyone have information about how often the heatbeat is sent, and how to Trigger from it. That is, is it a Direct or Group command and what is its content?

Tap the Set button on the Leak Sensor. It will send a
Wet On or Dry On followed about 15 seconds later by the
Heartbeat message. This is an Insteon message trace for
an ISY where i am using a Leak Sensor.

How do you get the AutoDetect to work? I have one of the Water Detectors and I have added the address in the PH Explorer and selected AutoDetect in the type column. When I go to the Insteon Explorer/Setup and initiate AutoDetect when I hold down the Set button for 10 seconds I see the transmissions from the detector displayed on the scroll but the type does not change and stays "Auto Detect"

edtude-

After Auto Discovery, you must click on the Save/Refresh button again to refresh the window under the Devices Tab.

After the refresh it should show the detected device type, although that said, I have had times (like you seem to be) when the device does not seem to be detected.

If push comes to shove, just select the device type (2852-222) manually. That should work for you.

Lee-

A very special thanks to you, for this info. It sure made testing easier than waiting 24 hours for another Heartbeat !!!

I have all working perfectly now. Much thanks.

Still no go GG I so I I guess I have to enter it into my 'Types' list manually. Can you send me a screenshot of what the final columns of data should be?

One question I have an maybe this is more for Dave could it be that my list did not get updated in my database? Just curious.

Ed,

Not sure what of of Auto Detect you're using. If you're doing Auto Discovery on the Setup tab, you don't want to have the device address already in your PowerHome database. Delete the entry from the devices tab, save changes, go to Setup tab and press Auto Discovery. Next press and hold the set button on the leak detector and you should see it discovered, the device auto added to the devices tab and the device tab auto added to the Types tab (you'll have to Save/Refresh both of these tabs to see the changes...don't forget to turn off Auto Discovery when you're done).

If you're using the Auto Detect of Device Type on the Devices tab, then of course the device has to already exist in the PowerHome database but you don't press the Set button or anything with the device. Just manually create the entry in devices and set the Types column to Auto Detect. Save changes and watch the log. If its a brand new entered device and I2CS, you'll see the CREATE I2CS INITIAL and a few other messages while PowerHome gets everything squared away. When it appears done, you can Save/Refresh the devices tab and see what PowerHome entered for the Type.

If you're on 2.1.5a, then you should have the new internal table as it came built in to the new database.

Let me know how it goes.

Edit: Rereading the post, I understand now why you would be pressing the Set button. As a leak detector device, you have to be in linking mode in order for PowerHome to communicate with it. I would maybe give Auto Discovery a try to see how that works and if all goes well, change the Types column to Auto Detect, put the device in link mode and Save/Refresh your changes. After COMMS are complete, Save/Refresh again to see the results.

Dave.

No matter what I do I can not figure out this Auto Detect. I had to build the Water Leak sensor in the database and then use the Manual Linking tab in Insteon Explorer to get that working properly which it now is.
I just received a 2342 Mini Remote and the same issues. If I go to the Setup tab and turn on Auto Discovery I then take my Mini Remote and press the set button for 3 seconds and absolutely nothing happens. I can go to the Manual Linking tab and link it to the Controller but that does me no good because the Controller still does not know what it is! Is there any way that I can just select the device type from the built in table?

Ed,

Not sure what the problem is. If you'd like, we can schedule a remote control session so I can try help you through it.

You can add the leak sensor manually to the types table if you like. Create a new device. You can pretty much leave all the fields at default except for the Description and Device Cat and Subcat. Make the description what you like, the Dev cat = 16 and the Subcat = 8. You can also change the controller groups to 4 if you like. Save the changes, close/reopen the Insteon Explorer and then you can select it for the type.

You can see the master list of devices by running this SQL command in the PowerHome Multi-editor SQL mode (shift-F5):

select * from insteonproductlist

I am sure that I am just not doing something right but for the life of me I can not figure it out. Fortunately your program is such that I can use it to overcome MY limitations! I do not know what hours you are available to monitor what I am doing but let me know and I am guessing we can set something up. I am taking some time off of work for the next ten days or so.
Thanks
