is there some way to send the RF commands for the ninja pan and tilt camera bases. X10's pan tilt pro never did work remotely but it works fine from the host controls. would like to add the controls to my page. Any Ideas about incorperating into power home?

Swany,
I would say not currently. PowerHome does not currently support either the CM19A or the newer CM15A. They have just recently made changes to what they call and "SDK" that may allow me to add support within PowerHome. Im currently looking into what would be required, but were probably at least 3 months out as I have a couple of other controllers that Im trying to add support for as well.
The one other thing that you may be able to try is using the "Sendkeys" from PowerHome to send keystrokes to the host application. If this works, then it would be easy enough to setup a Control Center tab with formula buttons that would be controllable via the web.
Dave.

Thanks, as long as it is on the radar I am happy. love the program it runs great! pan/tilt pro only uses mouse control they do not have any keyboard controls that is just one of the major problems with it. look forward to more of your good work. Thanks. SWANY

Heh,
It is 3 months later isn't it?
I started some initial work on the CM15A and the Insteon interface and discovered that I needed to rewrite the controller objects to allow for greater flexibility. So
Im now currently in the middle of the controller object rewrite. However, the next controller supported will be for Insteon. After that I'll be working on both UPB and the CM15A. Due to the simplicity of the CM15A interface, it may make it out before UPB

Heh,
I knew this would be coming soon .
The latest update...The Controller objects interface has been rewritten and seems to be testing well. The Insteon controller interface has been written and seems to be testing well in beta. There are a couple of things to implement on the Insteon side (triggers and macro commands) and I will be ready for the next controller. Sooooooo...the next controller I start work on will be for the CM15A. I don't think it will be too difficult so we might see it very soon.

Would the following help?
http://x10.patterson.cx/x10/
This is a simple ActiveX component to control the CM19A USB Wireless Transceiver. It is capable of sending standard wireless x10 commands as well as commands to control the NINJA pan & tilt unit. This unit can also receive wireless commands on all house codes like the MR26A or the W800RF. Says it can be used on an ASP website or a program called Homeseer.
Of course I don't know what an ASP website is and I'm too emotionally attached to PowerHome to ever switch to anything else...
I'm hoping someone can figure out how to use this with PowerHome as I'm sticking with PH until it is no longer supported.

Manny,
This is an interesting find. However, Im not sure what it's restrictions would be for use in a commercial product. Once I have the plug-in interface going, then an enterprising user should be able to put something together.
The support I was going to add would be using the ActiveHomePro SDK. It's essentially an OCX interface into the AHP product and is supposed to support both the CM15A and the CM19A. I will be starting work on this beginning in April. The EHX show is at the end of this month and Ive got a lot of preparation since Ive been invited to participate in a kiosk within the SmartLabs pavilion.
I will be looking at this though because I have no doubt it will probably be more reliable based upon what Ive read on the ActiveHome forum today.

Please let me know more about The EHX show, I'd ask for your autograph on my spiralbound PH manual if it's anywhere near my area.
I was just able to control my Ninjas from the command prompt! Which means I'll be able to control my Ninjas from PH very soon.
I understand that you can't include it with PH, but this post should be of use to everyone like me who has been waiting for something other than the crappy x10 sw for pan and tilt capabilities.

Manny,
I'll post and let everyone know how the EHX show goes.
That's great about the command line. It should be pretty easy to get something going for you as a work around until I get this integrated.
Im going to be moving the plugin creation up in priority since more and more people are starting to want to connect a variety of devices to PowerHome.
Let me know how your command line efforts go and if you need any help.
Dave.

Here is my PowerHome control web page with a frame that contains NinjaCam contol buttons.
Made my wife really happy as before she would have to wait for the Ninja to pan around for a short glimpse of our dogs. Now she can follow them around while sitting at work.

Manny,
That looks pretty good! Are you using the PowerHome webserver to serve up the Ninja controls and then triggering with the command line util? What program are you using to display the camera output?
However you did it, it looks good.

Not yet, but that's the plan. This was proof of concept for me to test the ninja activex control.
I've managed to load the vbs into PowerHome's script editor and am trying to learn the ph_runscript_0 function.
Got the ninja to move , and an error Auto message appears:
An error occurred while running the ph_runscript_0 (NinjaSweep.vbs,vbscript,0,0,0) function.
Source:
Error Number: 0
Description:
Line: 0
Column: 0
Text:
As they are all zeros I'm guessing it's ok.
Currently running .asp frame/page with a freeware webserver for Ninja Control frame. This required minimal thought on my part as the script/asp page already existed (gotta love Google) and was pretty much good to go.
I bought a cheap dvr card off of ebay and am using the sw that came with it to webserve and switch between 5 cameras (2 on Ninjas). We have quite a few pets.
I replaced all but 1 x10 cameras with cctv ebay cameras. They are of the color day/ir led night vision variety.
I don't allow anyone else to log into Powerhome so I use the other webservers for visitors, and show off my PowerHome pages to select buddies.
What's cool is seeing the jaws drop when I switch to a camera view of the front of the house and turn on the porch lights using the webpage or my cell phone.

Heh,
I used to do that with my cellphone as well. Used to impress the hell out of my friends .
The error is not good. You should not get any error at all. Post the parameters to the ph_runscript_0 function and I'll let you know if there are any problems there. The fact that it runs and moves the camera probably means that the runscript function is ok and the error may be in the OCX control or other. The error data returned is direct from the VBS runtime control so theres no telling how accurate it is. In my testing, it usually seems to be accurate as far as line number so if it shows a 0, Im thinking it may be blowing up on the OCX as that would not have a line number. All I do know is that if everything is ok, you won't get any errors.
Anyways...definately looking good. Let me know how it goes and if I can help at all.
Dave.

In the execute script section I've left the parameters field blank. Number of parameters 0.
Is that causing the error message?
I thought things were supposed to equal 0 when run if the action was successful. And the following was just info from the execute script section.
When I use the Check Script section I get a Success message:
No Errors found!
The Check Script section also moves the ninja.

Control Center Buttons on the web work like a charm.
Can't tell that each formula/button pops up an error on the server when executed from the web.
Is there an On Error Resume Next equivalent to keep the message box from appearing?

Manny,
Ok, I definately found a problem (several ) with your runscript function.
The first things are that the script and script type parameters are strings so should be enclosed in either single or double quotes. The next thing wrong is the last parameter is also a string and should by the starting subroutine or function in your VBS file. So if you had the following code in a VBS file name test.vbs:
Code:
sub main()
msgbox "This is a test."
end sub
|
|
|
You would call this using the following function:
Code:
ph_runscript_0("test.vbs","vbscript",1,0,"main") |
|
|
Try these changes and that should take care of your errors.
Dave.
