Hi - any idea why I would see several messages a day like this? I do have web access enabled, but it is meant only for internal use in my home. I don't have port 80 forwarded inward at my router...

Thanks!
/j   (running 2.1.4b)

Interesting. You can see from the "From: 127.0.0.1"
that it is originating from the PowerHome machine
itself, apparently the FireFox browser. Cant tell you
why though. Not sure if its a browser plugin or what.
Of course, ga.js should not exist on your PowerHome
machine so the request should fail.

ga.js is a javascript file by Google for performing
website statistics and analysis. The host is
www.google-analytics.com which where ga.js would be
hosted but the call is routed to the PH webserver. Not
sure if you're running a PSP page or anything where
you may have embedded a call to ga.js or if your hosts
file has an entry for google-analytics.com that routes
to 127.0.0.1 or whatever you're using for DNS is
providing the route.

Dave.

OH - thanks Dave - I get it now.   I do indeed have a "hosts" file on the machine (a very powerful but low-budget security feature) that routes outgoing web requests to a long list of sketchy addresses to 127.0.0.1 - essentially keeping sketchy apps from "phoning home".

(see http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm)

sounds like an attempt to send data to google analytics is getting turned around and picked up by PH (since PH is running a local web page).

Weird - but thanks!

[PS - so my newest application is running an outdoor soaker hose on a timer - the twist? I pull down the forecast from a web page every hour or so and if it's rained in the last 24 hours I don't run the soaker hose. PH rules. PH + Perl = Awesome!)
