Dave,

I need to replace my old PLC as it has died.

What steps do I need to take to accomplish this?

Also, should I upgrade to 202 while I am at it.

Thanks.

Herdfan,

How've you been?

Replace the PLC....Hmmm...hadnt really thought of this but it should'nt be a problem.

First thing I would do is connect up the new PLC and go through the following steps in the "Insteon DM Control" screen (download core app, clear PLC database, and add ID's to PLC).

Next go to the Groups by Controller screen and choose "Replace Device". Select the old PLC ID (should be POWERLINC1) and the new PLC ID (should be POWERLINC2). Click "Replace Device" and let it work through (you've got a LOT of links so may take awhile ). If you want to speed things up, you may want to set your "Background poll interval" from 15 seconds to 5 seconds in the Insteon settings screen and reinit PowerHome before doing the "Replace Device".

Once all of your links are rebuilt using the new PLC, go to the Insteon Devices screen and delete the old PLC. Rename the new PLC ID to POWERLINC1 (or whatever the old PLC ID originally was). This should keep everything synchronized and you should be good to go.

As far as upgrading to 202...I doubt it will make much difference, but you can since this is the version that will be in the next beta. Just be sure to manually launch the 202 SDM the first time so that the registry entries are updated.

More importantly is to be sure you have the 1.03.4.7-4 patch if you don't already. It's possible that link corruption can occur on previous versions.

Let me know how this works for you.

Dave.
