I apologize if this question has been answered already, but I have searched through the forum and can't find it.
I am using PH Beta 1.03.4.7 with several INSTEON devices, including a KeyPadLinc. I want to establish links between KPL buttons A, B, C and D and my PLC. I want these buttons to be regular toggle buttons, with the button lights going on and off according to controls from PH. I also want PH to be able to sense when these buttons are toggled on the switch.
I am able to establish a link between the PLC and button 1 (e.g. the big ON/OFF buttons), but not with buttons 3,4,5,6 (A, B, C, D).
I also can't find any instructions for the 'KeypadLinc Config' screen.
I don't need to do the whole XOR thing.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

I assume you are trying to do this from Create/Edit/Clone. The A,B,C, and D buttons are represented as button numbers 3,4,5, and 6 respectively.
So if you want to add a link to button A on Keypad1 to a switch called Switch1, then you choose Switch1 as your Group Master and double click on Keypad1 from the list of devices (right side). This will add it to the responder list on the left side. Then go to the responder list and scroll to the right till you see the button number and change it from button 1 (the default) to button 3 which would be the A button. Click on Save Group and the link will be created.

Thanks for your quick response. Two questions:
First, just to be very precise, I'm trying to set up the links you described between my PLC and Keypad1, not between Switch1 and Keypad1. I assume that doesn't matter, that I simply substitute PLC for Switch1 in your instructions.
Second, something still is not working right. When I scroll to the right on the responder list (within the Create/Edit/Clone window) the button that is assigned as a default is 0, not 1 - and the button field is not editable. The KPL is configured as a Keypadlinc Dinner 600W. I assume I have configured something improperly somewhere.
Any help is, obviously, appreciated.

On my system my PLC is called PowerHome so I chose PowerHome as my group master. A PLC has 254 group numbers, and I am using number 31 in this case.
My KeypadLinc is called Office and I picked it and added it to the responder list. I changed button 1 to button 3 and saved it. worked fine so I know the process is right.
Usually you see button 0 in the responder list for switches and you can't edit them because they only have 1 button. It looks like you have yours defined correctly as "KeypadLinc Dimmer 600W" so I'm not sure where the glitch is. You should be able to change the button field to anything between 1 and 8.

Thanks. Anyone else have any ideas why my KPL appears to only have button 0 as an option?

I tried group 31, like you have in your setup, and the button was editable (!). I suspect the first set of groups are somehow reserved for some other purpose.
Anyway, thanks for your help - without it I would not have been able to solve the problem.

Jwshome,
The PLC groups are essentially all the same and none of them are reserved.
If your KPL as a responder does not allow you to edit the button number, check the definition for the "KeypadLinc Dimmer 600watt" in the Insteon Types screen. Make sure that the "Groups" field is set to 8 (the number of available groups on a KPL). If this field somehow got set to 1 or 0, then this would cause the behaviour that you describe.
HTH,
Dave.

Dave:
Thanks, you were right - I changed the setting back to 8 groups.
Thanks.
