Hey Guys,
I have a PowerLinc V2 USB, 2414U. It seems to work great with other applications. I can use the SmartHome timer software. I can also use SDM3.exe to talk to the PowerLinc. I have also used various freeware utils like Group Commander and InHome_free without a problem
I can not, however, get PowerHome to talk to my PowerLinc. In fact, it isn't in the list of controllers in PowerHome Explorer. So I tried both the PowerLinc USB (1132CU) and the PowerLinc USB (1132U). After restarting PowerHome I get the "Unable to locate a PowerLinc" message. I have read the phinsteaon.rtf document fully and I think I know what to do, it just doesn't seem to work. If I ussue a getport command in SDM.exe it comes back with USB4.
Also, PowerHome does not seem to "bind" with SDM.exe. It does not launch it automatically, and SDM.exe reports 0 connections if I launch it manually.
Please help, I work in customer service so I know how hard this can be :)

Narc,
If you've got the SDM successfully communicating with the PowerLinc then that's most of the battle  .
Most likely the problem is the controller type you've defined within PowerHome. To use the 2414U or 2414S Insteon PowerLinc controllers, you must set the controller type as "Insteon DM" in the controllers screen. As you've found, the PowerLinc USB types will not work. After making this change, reintialize or restart PowerHome and you should be good to go.

Hey Dave,
Thanks for manning the forum. Small time software like what you write makes the Internet go round.
You nailed it, that fixed the problem.
You really should put that in the .RTF. I had no idea what DM meant, but now I get that it means "Device Manager".
I'm gonna go play :)

Jason,
Appreciate hearing the good news. I checked the .RTF and it's in there (3rd paragraph of the "How PowerHome uses Insteon" section) but I probably should highlight it somehow (you're not the first to hit this problem ).
Anyways, let me know how your testing goes and if you have any other questions or problems.
