After fighting the Global Cache WF2IR unit for 2-3 months I have thrown in the towel, as enabling the GC Controller support in PH causes PH to crash anywhere from once a day to every 10 minutes, with absolutely the same consistent, once each 10 minutes, use of the GC unit.

Dave indicates it may be some time before he can rewrite the GC Drivers, so a near term fix is probably not likely.

So to keep my Wine Room climate control functions I switched to USB-UIRT infrared system coupled with the most capable IR Wireless Extender system I have ever seen. It is the SIIG Ultra IR Blaster with a wireless range of up to 600 feet.

Not only is its range significant, the pods are self contained with IR receiver/emitters as appropriate, making this a very simple USB-UIRT>IR Extender setup.

Long story short. Extenders work great, but I can't get my remore IR Code into the UIRT.

When I try the PH IR Device handler Learn function it asks if I want to save the code and when I say Yes, the screen blinks but so what! Where in the heck is the code saved... not in any of the App's fields and in no files I can find. If I use the Record function, the Code appears in the Apps "Input" window in 'uirtraw' format but the ph_convertir function throws an error comment... "Unable to convert from uirtraw to pronto".

So bottom line I have the hardware in place, but can't use it for lack of data.

How in the heck does one get IR Codes?

BTW - I tried lrnhelper.exe but none of the codes I captured with it work, despite taking the majority 'best' numbers from 8 read tries.

Ken,

You can just copy/paste the IR codes you were using for
the Global Cache. They'll work just fine for the USB-
UIRT. You could also just change the controller for the
learned IR device to the USB-UIRT controller.

If you want to learn the codes with the USB-UIRT, go
into the "Settings" under the USB-UIRT controller setup
and change the learn mode to Pronto.

Dave.

Thanks Dave. Unfortunately I had only learned one code for the Global Cache and I wanted several more keys to really make things work as I desired, so I had to press on.

I never saw the "pronto" setting in the Setup area. That gave me what I wanted. Thanks.

I found a "ready to use" Excel sheet on the web that scripted the character-by-character compare of two columns and highlighted any character differences in red. Saved me from writing code and makes it easy to compare multiple IR reads and then tune the pronto code to be more accurate.

There is still one open question. When you use the "Auto Learn" function to grab key codes, where does the data go? There are no results I can find after the Learn runs. Everything is blank and I can't find any log or data files resulting from the effort.
