Hi everyone,
Many of you know me as the programming-averse PH evangelist.
I'm also that guy who likes to cut and paste different programs together for a more complete solution.
Some of you may have seen my work in pairing PowerHome with XLobby. Automation Display Thread
XLobby Thread
I know of few who have taken that pairing to a whole new level.
Also embarrassingly enough, xLobby sometimes is difficult for me to work with. As XLobby has become commercial and formal support was waning for the free version, I began looking at other free alternatives, and stumbled upon eHome.
eHome had everything except the HA thing going for it, which gave me the opportunity to introduce PowerHome to the author.
With enough begging/harassment from me he is ready to start integration.
I urge those of you who would like to have a touchscreen interface that is kid/wife/granny proof and usable on installation to check it out.
Of course many of you can and have provided yourselves with the same functionality eHome provides, but for those of you like me who just don't have the knack for any type of coding , here is another alternative interface.
Case in point it took me a couple of tries to post this message using Forum Codes .
Disclaimer: I have no financial stake in eHome as it is free, but I do know that the more PowerHomies who become eHomies too will only serve to make it a better TouchScreen Interface. Especially as we can get on the ground floor now and completely overwhelm Steve at eHome Creations.
Plus as Dave is ready to get the plug-in interface out, the timing seems right.

Hi guys!
Still hanging around and working on the eHomie to Powerhomie interface so I thought i would give a status.
A - Create middle tier (EH to PH) - DONE
B - EH reading Powerhome ASA DB - DONE
C - EH using socket server messages - DONE
Took me a while to get a good reliable connection to the powerhome ASA database. For you tech people its using the DAO with ODBCDirect... Not the ADO. I have a VB class if anyone is interested.
Anyway...

Manny/TonyNo,
How has this been coming along? I have just started looking into EHome as a possible XLobby replacement (although my Xlobby set-up is really "sweet"...but not free for long...hopefully I can still afford it...).
Manny, any of your famous video tutorials to serve as an introduction (like you did for XLobby)?

Hey Smarty,
I hope to have some videos soon.
It is still too early though.
Steve is almost ready to release a version I can play with, as far a PH is concerned.

Hi guys!
Well, the eHomie to Powerhomie interface is coming along nice.
The new things I have finished are
A - import if macros, global vars and x10 into eHome
B - primary key link ID between Powerhome and ehome
C - a wizard interface to do it all with.
D - The ehome skinned HA interface
Anyway...
Hope to have something for manny to test in less than a week.

My fault. I pulled the main install of line a few days ago and forgot about it... I will get a new install kit back online in a day or so when I get back in town.

OK, its back up. Remember, the powerhome interface is not included with this release but you can add it to one of the custom user defined buttons or add it to the built in web browser.

Yes.
Just a matter of a UDP interface.
There are other recent comments on this message board that address the release schedule. This will then prompt another look at the integration by Steve.
We have a long history here of (unfairly)expecting PH to perform like Microsoft's Tuesday release schedule but the size of the operations are just a lil bit different. Plus, Dave (bless him) meets his self imposed deadlines like I stick to my new years resolutions (btw, still fat, the garage is a mess, but I'll get to it soon).
In any case, every second spent on this messageboard delays the release. So, relax, stay awhile and look around.
I'd recomend getting up to speed and everthing ready in PH in the meantime, as once it is released you'll have a huge list of opportunites open up.
Hope that helps,
Manny

As a fellow programmer when Dave said in a few weeks I tripled it... (So Dave, I think you are right on time!) I do the same thing with time estimates. And then once the code is done what about install testing? Is it an upgrade? New installation? What windows version? 98? 2000? XP?
I hate programming...

It's me . Steve's been waiting on the new version with support for the UDP broadcast interface. However, the great news is Im finished with PowerHome coding and so am working on the Database Upgrade Utility. The next version will be out this weekend !!
My estimates suck! I love programming but hate the documentation and the other support tasks. Sometimes it feels as if I start to drag things out at the end of the coding just to prolong having to do things like Help file updates, Database Upgrade Utils, etc. .
Dave.

Thanks guys,
I just wanted to make sure it was still going to happen.
It had appeared hot and heavy for about 2 months, and then no word for a month.
I'll be looking forward to any releases.
Thanks again,
Dave

Ok all...
Question. What do you want to see with powerhome and ehome together? I am coming to the conclusion that people are more looking for some type of screen designer that reads the powerhome tables and lets you build a custom eHome style screen?
I have added dave's standalone UDP remotes but...
or.... give me some feedback? What are you looking for?

Yup!
What you said with the ability to handle the UDP updates in eHome directly (actually, this is a back-door to PNG support since Dave's development system does not support it as of yet).

As I move further and further along with my automation, I feel that I’m pretty well set in PowerHome. Now I’d like to concentrate on the UI to my controls, mainly lighting and irrigation. At some point, I’d like to include my iTunes library, but that’s on a Mac, so…..
My target devices for UI include laptops and a Nokia 770, which is hopefully on the way to me. I know it’s a small screen, but I think it will have great WAF.
I’m not familiar with eHomeCreations, so I’ll have to take a look, but I like what I hear in this thread.
