I'm getting an Error 39 whenever I enable either the Web or Socket Server. . . Any Ideas?  Could it be my FireWall?

Bob,

Give me the rest of the info associated with error.  Probably just something minor.

Dave.

Bob,

It appears that you have defined the Socket Server and the web server to use the same port.  Either that or you have configured the web server to use a port that is already being used by another application.  Try changing the web server port to a different value.

The socket server is initialized first.  From the error, you're getting past this point.  The line number that the error is occurring on is when the web server is trying to set the port that the socket listens on.  It would appear that there is a conflict.

Let me know how this goes.

Dave.

Bob,

After a little more thinking, it may not be a conflict but could actually be your firewall not allowing the port to open.  Try disabling your firewall temporarily and see if that does not help the problem.  If it does, you may need to configure your firewall to allow traffic on that port and limit access based upon IP.

Dave.

Dave

I have unloaded the FireWall, shut down all browsers, and email clients, and I've tried 3 different port numbers (8000, 8001, 8088), Same Result.  Is there any thing on my network that could cause this?  Should this thing start even if no network was connected?

Bob

Bob,

Reading through your messages, it appears that this might have been working at one time and has now stopped.  Is this the case or did it never work?  Also, what OS are you running?  If this has never worked, it's almost as if the Microsoft Winsock control was not properly installed.

I see from your second message that the Socket Server also has the problem.  The Socket Server is loaded before the webserver so it would not be a conflict between the two.

If neither the webserver or the socket server has ever worked, I would suspect that the Winsock control is not properly installed.  I would attempt uninstalling the PowerHome Runtime and reinstalling it.

Both the webserver and the socket server should be able to start even if no network is connected as the local machine can connect to itself.

Let me know.

Dave.
