There appears to be a fairly large delay with insteon.
5-15seconds If I send two commands. (push on then off).
If i wait 10seconds or so between commands it is ok.

Is this normal?

Thanks,
-Allan

Allan,
No, this is not normal at all. I have found Insteon to be almost instantaneous (<1. sec) from either local activation or from PH activation.

More details are needed to try to determine the cause. What else can you tell us about your set-up? The more details you provide, the better your problem can be "fleshed out".

I have just started with insteon. I only have 3 insteon switches with several older switchlinc x10 switches.

The delay appears to be before the command is sent. I send one. then when i send the other the mouse cursor changes to the hourglass for 5-10seconds before the 2nd command is sent and the light turns off.

I think this may be a signal problem. However, all the X10 equipment is working well. I have ordered two signalinc's. Below is a sample from the SDM log.

Allan,

Definately not normal. Looking at your eventlog, every message is being NAK'ed. Not a good thing.

First thing I would try is going through the initialization process again on the "Setup" tab in the Insteon Explorer. Step through the 3 tasks in the "PLC Setup" area. "Download Core.." followed by "Clear PLC..", followed by "Add PowerHome Insteon Device..".

After you've completed the above, try controlling the devices from the Device Status screen. See if you've still getting NAK's or if you're getting ACK's. If theres no change, then you most likely have a signal issue and you could either try moving the PLC to a different outlet or wait until your SignaLincs arrive (usually necessary to bridge the phases). One other thing to make sure of is that the PLC is not plugged into a UPS, power strip, or even the same outlet that your PC is plugged into. Many people have reported similar problems to yours that go away as soon as they move the PLC to a different outlet from their computer.

HTH,

Dave.

As suspected it does appear to be a signal problem. When I was unable to link any devices I unplugged all the computers but the PH one (plugged into a filterlinc anyway). The problem appeared to be gone.

Once my other filterlinc's & signallinc's arrive hopefully it will be resolved.

I also have a motion sensor that triggers an x10 device (using w800rf32a). I notice there appears to be more of a delay now then with my old CM15A. This delay is managable and i'm moving away from x10 anyway. I'm just wondering if this is normal.

Thanks,
-Allan

FWIW, when I upgraded to the W800 from a TM751, the speed increase was crazy.

If your response time went up, I would suspect that something is wrong somewhere.
