I am trying to get my serial plc working. I am using a usb serial adapter as COM4. I also have a USB PLC and it works fine. I use the serial PLC to connect to my Elk and I wanted to transfer my ID's into the PLC so everything is synced together.
After many reboots of my laptop, this is as far as I have got. If I just leave it running, it will keep sending getlinks. Here is the SDM log. I have never been able to download the core application. It appears to be running the correct version. I am running Powerhome 1.03.4.10.

I also tried a different laptop with a different usb to serial adapter and I get the same results. The 2414S does work with the Elk in that it allows the Elk to turn on Insteon lights. Elk does not properly reflect the status of the lights if they are turned on manually or some other means outside of Elk. I have linked all devices (as a controller) to the 2414S using Power-home.

Mhansen,
It looks as if you may need to factory reset your PLC. The Getlinks command should return a beginlist and an endlist and PowerHome is looking for this data. Since it doesnt see this info, it repeats the command. Another indication is are the "bad" packets.
The deviceid, port, and firmware data all look good so I don't there is a problem with your USB to serial adapter.
What I would do is unplug your PLC and wait 10 seconds. Then hold down the "set" button and plug the PLC back into the wall. Keep holding down the "set" button for about 15 seconds and then release. The LED should be flashing. At this point, try downloading the core application again.
Let me know where this gets you.
Also, welcome to PowerHome!
Dave.

I ended up RMA'ing the PLC. The replacement worked fine. Thanks for the steps to reset the PLC. I was not able to find out how to do that.
