Hi - I'm not asking the world to solve my problems, but just to maybe point me in the right direction. It's not a big deal, my system is working really well. But I notice some things in the PH log that are, well, really weird. I don't believe I have any X10 devices that can generate these messages (my only controllers are Mini/Maxi Controllers, a PR511, and a Universal Module). And yet they show up in my log and are the, well, weirdest things I've ever seen. Any thoughts? I suppose they could be from a neighbor, but still...
thanks

I’d get to know your neighbor.. Looks like some intelligent controller is sending out “Hail Request” to see who’s there. Are you sharing a power line transformer?

i share with a few (although it's right in front of my house...) does seem like i have a neighbor into home automation...
Now - what's the polite etiquette to ask neighbors I normally don't talk to - drop a note in everyone's box on the same transformer? Call everyone up.
and - do I care? I don't think it's hurting me 8-}

You can install a Signal Blocker from Smarthome and not say anything BUT, on the other hand, it depends how friendly you want to get. If you are on the outside of the transformer with someone else that will probably be where the signals are coming from.

thanks - but, again, not sure i care - or that it would make a difference (what do I do, ask them to stop using their system?) 8-}

Jeff,
You've either got alot of noise or some busy neighbors. The traffic almost looks like real communications. It shouldnt cause you too many problems unless you're also using X10. Since it does seem like alot of activity, I may be tempted to put in the signal blocker. If you've primarily converted to Insteon though, you may be ok. However, check your Insteon communication stats. If you seem to be getting alot of NAKS or repeats (event 03's), it may be something you want to look at.
Dave.

Thanks Dave. If you look at the time stamps, there was one long burst of activity, and then a couple of messages at other times. about 70% of my traffic -is- still X-10, but so far it doesn't seem to be interfering.
I've never looked at a whole-house signal blocker - don't I need an electrician to do that (i.e., doesn't it go on the main?)
For now i may wait and see if it's a problem, or even recurs. Actually, I'd be surprised if any if my neighbors had any of this stuff...
