Not really a true PH question, but I'm guessing people here have some thoughts:
I'm installing Insteon in a house I recently purchased. The house has a terrible wiring scheme, with switches _everywhere_ and oftentimes in locations that make no sense for the load they are controlling.
Obviously, Insteon will let me control those loads from wherever I want/need to. But what rubs me the wrong way is that I am going to have to drop a SwitchLinc or In-lineLinc at each one of the existing switch locations in order to gain Insteon control over the load. (I'm not up for rewiring the whole house.)
What I really don't like is having to leave a switch in a location where I'll never use it. I know I can replace them with In-lineLincs and then put cover plates over them, but even that offends my delicate sensibilities. ;)
Are there more creative solutions? One thought I had was to try and find the lines in the basement or attic or wherever they branch out to the switch, and put ILLs in those locations, thereby rendering the branch out to the switch useless and be able to cover the junction boxes over.
Are there better solutions? Are there limitations to using In-lineLincs with PowerHome?
