I am trial running PowerHome, so I am an absolute newbie to this installation. My Insteon installation is at about 150 devices, including 27 KeyPadLincs. Using Homeseer for years, I have partially migrated from X-10 to Insteon. The lack of ongoing support for devices like the EZRain, etc are forcing my move off Homeseer. The ISY sounds great, but I am uncertain as to it's flexibility due to no scripting interface.
My new explorations with Powerhome have been basically OK so far, I am starting to get the feel of it. My primary attraction to Powerhome is that it interfaces with Windows Script Host - which in my opinion opens the world to Home Automation.
I have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out Powerhome and KeyPadLincs, including referencing past posts. The ability to setup a trigger, and call a VBS when any is button pressed was straightforward, and I have that OK. I have questions on how to do other items, like:
1. In VBS how can you control a specific button - turn it on/off, etc?
2. In VBS how can you tell if a specific button is on or off (status)?
3. In general how do you setup/maintain groups? The reports are excellent.
I am pretty excited about revamping my installation.
Thanks in advance for your time and help.
Richard.

Welcome!
What are you referring to with "buttons"? KPL buttons?
If by Groups you mean Insteon links, then they are handled in the Insteon Explorer on the Links tab.

Yes, the KPL buttons (A-H).
Also with groups, yes Insteon links, and I see the Insteon Explorer link section - but how can you manage groups of links? Example: turn on 4 SwitchLincs with one "group-on" command. How can you build/maintain groups, etc? Can Powerhome build/maintain links as well, if so how?
Thank you!

OK, no KPL's here. :(
First, create a group in the Insteon Explorer, PLC Groups tab, set your default ramp and brightness levels, then you link the desired devices to that group on the Links tab (select the PLC on the top then drag the devices to the Responder pane, and enter the group number you just created).
For more detailed info, check the Help file and go to Insteon, Insteon Explorer, Links.

Thanks for the direction I will try it out on Thursday when I am off. I know I messed around there, so I'll let you know my progress.
On the KPL front - anybody controlling KPLs using WSH/VBS programs? This is huge, since KPLs are extremely useful for more than just turning on a light...
Thanks!
