I've several devices that don't respond, they are just transmitters, I created links to the PLM to know if cmd were sent and activate triggers.

Everything works well but PH constently pools, tries to scan its dB, links etc... It generates a lot of traffic that is not needed.

How can I tell PH no to scan that device?

Thank you.

There are several controller only type devices which are status scanned to see if the link database has changed. The status scan is not just to determine if a device is On or Off. To the specific question, I could not find an option that suppressed the scan of a specific device but left it operational.

EDIT: thanks Dave. I thought Disable stopped PH from interacting with the device altogether. I learn/correct something new about PH every day.

You can stop the background polling on a per device basis by setting it to "Disabled" in the Insteon devices tab. Doing so will still allow PH to send/receive to the device using standard communications but PH will not perform anymore background operations (the things that appear in the Pending Operations window) such as status scan, Link scan, create links, delete links, etc. I do this for things like the RemoteLinc which never answers unless its in link mode. When you need to perform a background operation, just re-enable the device (hit Save/Refresh for the change to take effect), let the pending operations complete, and then Disable it again.

As Lee pointed out though, the main reason that Status scan is performed is to determine if the links database has changed to see if PH needs to rescan the links to update its own database. The actual on/off status is just a byproduct so PH will use it. But again, certain devices such as the RemoteLinc never answer so Disabling these devices is the best way.

Dave.
