Ok I currently am running a PLC on my setup and I just received my first Insteon Motion Sensor. I am not seeing any indication of the the Motion Sensor working in any of the logs, but I do know that it is working because the light that I have linked to it turn on. So my questions are; 1) Am I not seeing any of these events in the logs because I have a PLC instead of the PLM? and 2) If I set up a Trigger off of the Motion Sensor "On" will it or won't it work with the PLC?

I think you need to link the Motion Sensor to the PLC before it will report traffic from the device address.

I have linked all kind of things, to include the Access Points, but I am still not seeing the "On" from the Motion Detector. Any other suggestions?

Did you link the motion sensor(s) to the PLM/PLC?

The Access Points do not require links. When you refer to "linked all kind of things" you are confirming that you did manually link the motion sensor to the PLC? When you select the PLC as the current device under the Links tab do you see the Motion Sensor link in the Controllers section of the Links tab? Also, you are looking for Motion Sensor traffic in the "Insteon Raw Log" window of the Insteon Explorer.

Ok I guess I have gotten lazy and too comfortable using Powerhome. I have not manually linked any devices until yesterday, and it is amazing I can now see the message traffic from my new Motion Sensor. Now to play!

The Smarthome Motion Sensor did not implement the Peek/Poke commands that are used by the majority of devices for the creation of link records. Some day PH may implement that function for the MS but it requires using I2 ED commands (assumption on my part) which also requires a PLM. The PLC does not support ED commands. That is why you have to create the link manually.
